The difficulty level of this excursion is considered to be moderate to strenuous depending on your physical fitness level. It is very important that you are in good physical condition in order to participate and enjoy yourself. The terrain in the rainforest can be muddy, slippery, uneven and include river-wading, climbing large rocks and steep inclines. This excursion is recommended for guests with an active lifestyle
Minimum age is 8 years old
Maximum weight limit is 240 lbs
Maximum age is 70 years old
NOTE: Saturday's tour is longer (approximately 1 more hour) and more strenuous than Sunday - Friday. It's very important that you are able to comply with all of the tour restrictions, have a strong physical fitness level and are able to bring your knees up to your chest.

Transportation not Available: Guests must have Rental Car – No Taxi or Ubers. After an interpretive hike through natural trails lined with beautiful flora and fauna, some river wading and small climbs, you will arrive at a hidden gem found in the heart of the rainforest. This breathtaking segment of the 29,000-acre forest is like a natural playground. Here you will have the chance to swim in the natural pools, refresh in waterfalls, slide down an exhilarating natural waterslide, rope swing into the river, jump from different rock formations and enjoy fresh local fruit with a view. Along with all of this excitement, you will also have time to simply relax to the sounds of cascading waters and take in the beauty of this very special place.

5.00What a great experience with Jamie and Amari to go through the El Yunque Forest! We had a great time learning about the fauna and the forest itself. We had a helmet and life vest whereas other groups did not have the helmet. They took photos for us and would recommend for the 3-4 hour trip.

5.00Amauri and Jami were the perfect guides - funny, laidback, authentic, knowledgeable. They prioritized safety, while not sacrificing the fun. I’m so grateful to them and glad I decided to do this with a company! I would recommend wearing quick-drying fabric and to bring an extra pair of shoes/sandals to change into after El Yunque water adventures. Also listen to your guides - don’t bring anything with you to the hike… it’s mostly water-related, and you will most likely lose it during the activities.

5.00Amauri and Bradley were great! A great adventure with a lot of variety and diverse activities. They are very professional and think of all the little details to spoil, protect and nurture the guests. Plan to wear stable, old, closed toed tennis shoes ideally because the path is muddy and there are slippery rocks during mild rock climbing. Exquisite nature, refreshing clear water and a chance to test your physical, mental and emotional confidence.

5.00Island Journeys gave us one of the most unforgettable experiences of our lives. We did the El Yunque tour to the waterfall and it exceeded every expectation. The scenery was breathtaking, the water was perfect, and the entire experience felt both adventurous and completely safe. The hike is listed as challenging, but do not let that intimidate you. It is absolutely doable and the guides make sure you feel supported the entire time. Bradley and Amauri were outstanding. They explained every step, showed us how to navigate the trail safely, and helped us get the most fun out of each part of the tour. Their guidance allowed us to relax, enjoy the adventure, and feel confident even on the slippery spots. With good shoes and these two leading the way, you are set for an incredible day. I cannot recommend Island Journeys enough. This tour was truly a highlight of our trip. Bradley and Amauri made it unforgettable.
