Miraflores Visitor Center
We are going to Miraflores Visitors Centre and Locks,20 minutes from the city, at the exact time when the ships are going through the Canal to see in live action how ships are raised or dropped depends on they are coming in or out, explain how it works and answer all your questions, then we watch the 45 minutes Imax movie about the history of the Panama Canal narrated by Morgan Freeman very interesting movie really worth. Cafeteria, bar and a souvenir shop. The Panama Canal is 85 feet above the sea level, they are two set of locks on the Pacific side two artificial lakes and one more set of locks on the Atlantic side, the locks are water elevators to raise the ships to the level of the artificial lake on top of the mountains then they go through the isthmus on the artificial lake and on the other side they lower the ships back to le level of the ocean, this is an amazing engineering done more than 100 years ago by the Americans
