Discover the third largest geothermal field in the world and the largest in the southern hemisphere in the Atacama Desert. At 13,780 feet (4,200 meters) above sea level, the Tatio Geysers are a natural wonder that will take your breath away, in more ways than one.

Depart early in the morning, before sunrise, after pickup from your hotel. Arrive early at the geysers for a chance to observe the contrast between sunrise and steam from the heat of the magma-affected waters.

After sunrise, savor a full breakfast of bread, cheese, ham, scrambled eggs, coffee, chocolate, milk, and jam. After you've eaten, spend more time exploring the 80 geysers around the national park.

From there, ride through the Putana Valley. See endemic flora and fauna, and stop at a lagoon to see flamingos before heading back to your hotel.

Francisco was an amazing guide, and David was an excellent driver. This is a must-see if you're in the region, and hopefully you're lucky enough to get Francisco and David.

It’s an early start, but is well worth it. Our tour guide (Lucas) was great. Very professional and did an excellent job dealing with a few cases of altitude sickness in the group. The breakfast was really good too- would definitely recommend

Incredible to see all the geysers, steaming and bubbling! Well worth the 4:30 start time. Very good breakfast provided at a wonderful overlook. Francisco was a wonderful guide, funny, kind, and very informative. David, our driver, was also terrific.

What an amazing tour! Early start that is so worth it. Francisco was an amazing guide sharing his knowledge and ensuring that all the group was ok at all times especially given the altitude. Breakfast was also great with beautiful view over the mountains and geysers. Our driver (can't remember his name) was great as well.

  • El Tatio with FRANCISCO AVILA- amazing !!!

El Tatio with FRANCISCO AVILA & driver is DAVI 5:12am pick up to arrive early. 90 min drive up dark, curvy, windy roads handled like a nascar pro by DAVI thank you!! As we neared our destination FRANCISCO checked in with everyone and communicated frequently to make sure all were comfortable. Impressed with how much our guide knows! Everything from general Chilean history, random facts, to world news! We were warned it would be cold and while it was, I’m happy it wasn’t as bad as I thought. Zero degrees is definitely chilly if you’re not dressed properly. Seeing the twisters slow awake was cool. Being seated on a warm patch of earth as we were taught about the meaning of el tatio was perfect. Our guide takes pride in his work and it’s easy to tell! As the sun rose, the geysers slowed down and we headed for breakfast on site. To shake the chill the sun was coming out as Francisco promised and hot beverages warmed us quickly ! Breakfast with fresh made eggs was impressive ! If we were not at a high elevation a morning cocktail ( mimosa) would have been fun! Many questions revived with many answers from our guide. As we headed down the mountain we made several stops with educations about each place and facts about various animals on the side of the road. So coo! If you see Francisco Avila as a guide- you’re getting the best! PS- try the llama kebab!! Lean meat, juicy like a sirloin and had it at an old town on the way down, MACHUCA! Last tip- read the recommendations as you prepare to come here. No red meat night before- hold off on alcohol, otherwise you may be sorry. And dress warm, they do not provide you with coats or blankets! Enjoy. 🏔️🗻
