I hate having to write this review but feel people need to know when you are given to a person that doesn’t normally do the tours at the last minute. Our cruise docked in St Maarten on Christmas Day. So I was already apprehensive about the tour. However, after about 6 messages to Shawn, I thought it was going to be an amazing tour. Once we got to the van we were greeted by 2 men. I believe one was Shawn (but I honestly can’t remember his name) and our driver, Chris. We jumped in and his first question was “what are we doing today?”. I told him it was the half day tour and that Shawn had graciously allowed us to add 2 stops and make 1 much shorter. One of the new stops was going to the Rhum Distillery. I had that as our last thing so that we could sample some rum. Well, he took us there first, AT 9 am! Of course, sampling was not something we wanted to do at that hour and I asked him could we do it last. He said we’d be fine. Once we got there we realized why it was our first stop…he hadn’t had breakfast and asked the ladies to cook one for him. That would have been fine, but we were done in 7 - 10 minutes and we had to sit on a bench inside the distillery for an additional 27 minutes to wait for his breakfast. Definitely not the way we wanted to start the tour off. From there we went to Maho Beach to see the planes. During the ride there was no mention of anything except the name of the city and the remark that there was no traffic so he’d be able to give us a good tour. No history, not fun facts, nothing. Anyway, my husband had an app that said when planes were coming in and we found out one would be overhead approximately 3 minutes after we arrived. We videoed and took pictures of that and we were ready to go. The beach was crowded and we got what we needed. Per the itinerary that was supposed to be 30 minutes but it was only 10 minutes. Oh yes, we did not get to stop by Cole Bay for photos at anytime so that was another 10 minutes we didn’t do. And we didn’t do the 5 minutes in Philipsburg. From Maho Beach we headed to Marigot. He got a call from a friend and talked the whole time with him saying he’d see him after he dropped us off. We were supposed to have 30 minutes at Marigot but only spent 15. Later we discovered that we missed certain things we should have gotten pictures of but he told us nothing except to go to the market and he stayed at the van. It was a pretty crappy stop. From Marigot we went to Orient Bay Beach. We were supposed to have 2 hours but he said we had 15 minutes. The trip to the beach was one we requested to shortened but we wanted an hour there. Pretty much, we got out and took pictures of each of us standing on the beach, walked down through the sand for 5 minutes turned around and came back. We were there 15 minutes. My son was trying to get the sand off his feet and he told us we needed to hurry. The next stop was another one we requested. It was at a place where they say it’s allows you to do the Moses walk because there are sand bars there right under the water and it looks like you are walking on water. It is called Baie Lucas. This was something my son and husband really wanted. He actually got out with us this time and said we had 5 or 10 minutes (I asked for 30) and said we couldn’t do it because the water was too high. Well the place we looked wasn’t even the right spot and others had done it and were in the island. So we just went up to the observation area, he took 1 or 2 pictures of us and we went back to the cruise port. As you can see, these stops did not add up to the time allocated for the tour per their own itinerary. Shawn had said is was all doable and I reconfirmed this 4 times. This trip was super important to us because it was a gift for my son getting straight A’s after dealing with the lost of my parents (that passed within 2.5 months of each other) and losing our family dog aged 15.5 the next year. He did it all without missing any days and with an amazing attitude. We saved for 3 years for this trip. I contacted people directly to make sure it was going to be amazing for him, the guy in San Juan exceeded our expectations and Antigua definitely met them. This was the only tour that was a huge disappointment. We learned absolutely nothing nothing about the island and didn’t enjoy any of it. On top of this, our tour guide told us he only gets $5 per hour and said he needed tips to survive. Well, it made us feel like a good tip was needed, after all, it was Christmas. We definitely felt pressured. So when we got home, I wrote Shawn 2 or 3 times and gave him all the info and asked for a full or partial refund and he refused. He said the next time we are in St Maarten he would give us a free tour. I was like, wait…what? We aren’t rich. We can’t just plan a trip there for the tour we should have gotten and that we paid for. Even if we could, why would we ever use them again. This “solution” was ridiculous. A taxi ride would have been a heck of a lot cheaper and probably would have provided us with more info than we got. We use our cruise excursions to see if we ever want to go back to an island or country, we know absolutely nothing about this one so why would we come back. And again, if we did it would be years and years from now. I am so frustrated. All I see are great reviews and I’m sure if Shawn himself or a regular tour guide had done this it would have been great. To call someone at 7 am on Christmas and ask them to do a tour is crazy. He set us up for failure. I’m so disappointed and angry. I feel like I failed my son. Bottom line…make sure you look at the reviews and get someone listed as a good tour guy and don’t settle for anything less because they do not stand behind their work and have piss poor customer service. I hope this helps someone and saves them the heartache of getting a tour that did not deliver.

We had a group of 15 ranging in ages from 5 to 65. Shawn kept us entertained while giving us some history of the island as well. We had a delish lunch from a local Spot that with a group that large is hard to please! But we were all happy and fed. It was a great way to see the island and memories were made.

Shawn and the tour were wonderful. Fun and family friendly. Shawn was a wonderful guide who came prepared to show my family and I a great time. Saw all the hot spots, enjoyed a delicious curry goat lunch that Shawn arranged, and had plenty of time to sight see at every stop.

Shawn was AMAZING. We booked him for transport from the airport to our cruise, and then on the way back from our cruise to the airport. He was so kind and easy to work with, and extremely well priced that we ended up booking him for a two hour impromptu tour before heading to the airport for our flight. It's tough to find a reliable easy to book driver and we will ONLY use Shawn from now on - can't recommend enough, don't think twice about booking with him, just do it!

My two brothers and I had an unforgettable time with Pelican Island Tours in St. Martin. Our tour guide, Nerline, was absolutely incredible from start to finish. She took us to the other side of the island, and throughout the trip, she made sure we were comfortable and having a great time. What stood out the most was how attentive she was—checking in on us regularly and making sure we got the full experience. The tour was not only scenic and informative, but it also felt personal thanks to Nerline warm and friendly energy. Highly recommend booking with Pelican Island Tours if you’re visiting St. Martin—you won’t regret it!

We were picked up at our rental right on time by Nerline. Since she is a native to St. Maarten, she knew everything to give us an education about the island. We felt like we had just been to a class on the life, govt., education, history, etc. of the island. We toured the French side and the Dutch side. One thing we desired of this tour was to visit an authentic French bakery for some out of this world sweet delicacies..plus a cup of coffee. She took us to Chez Fernand bakery. It was very difficult to choose from so many tempting treats. My husband and I shared the Royal Chocolate.. several layers of chocolate mouse and other chocolate treats.it melted in our mouths. Being in our 80’s we were not eager to get out of our comfy ride to walk around but we enjoyed all the sites offered to us. We would definitely recommend Nerline as your awesome guide to her beautiful island,
