Enjoy an exciting and adrenaline filled sail around Rodney Bay or further afield, learning the skills and techniques of sailing a race yacht. As you harden the sails and the yacht heels over, feel the exhilaration of flying through the water, perhaps even with you at the helm. So come and join us for a full or half day experience. And remember no experience necessary to feel the thrill of Papagayo our 40-foot (12-meter) racing yacht. Participation isn’t mandatory,— you can simply relax and enjoy the ride if you prefer. Water and soft drinks are provided. Choose a morning or afternoon tour or a full day.

Your adventure on Rodney Bay starts as you board the Papagayo, a sleek racing yacht built for speed but also spacious and comfortable. Listen to a rundown of the boat’s safety features and procedures from your experienced crew, and be introduced to the various sailing equipment and aspects, including hoisting the main sail, trimming the sails, winching and flying the jib. As you sail across Rodney Bay and past Pigeon island, practice any of the skills that you wish to try under the watchful eyes of your crew — you can even take the helm of the boat! Work as a team to sail the yacht around the bay, or just sit back and watch the action if you prefer not to participate. Either way, you’ll enjoy a fabulous morning or afternoon on the Caribbean Sea, relishing the sea breeze and admiring views of St Lucia’s mountainous coastline and turquoise water.

5.00Excellent experience with knowledgeable and skilled crew. I and my family were permitted to take the helm and with the guidance of Miss Vickie, steered the boat on a course South along the coast and back up the coast to return to the harbor. The smiles lasted all day.

5.00My wife and I completed the on-the-water assessment for the ICC sailing license at First For Sail and were very impressed by how well organized Capt Vicky is. The clarity of her instruction is excellent. Capt Vicky is a natural teacher/coach and she adapted the instructions to the level of the student. Sailing along the beautiful coast of St Lucia is spectacular. Highly recommend.

5.00Friendly and knowlegeable instructor! This is a 40 ft racing vessel so you get a real feel for sailing in calm sea and waves. Loved that we only had 6 aboard so it felt like a personalized experience.

5.00I had an absolutely incredible day with First For Sail in St. Lucia! Vicky, the captain, and her first mate, Michael, were top-notch—helpful, friendly, and full of good humour. They truly made the experience unforgettable. The day was perfect from start to finish, and I can’t recommend them enough for anyone looking to enjoy a fantastic sailing adventure!

5.00One word - amazing. If you’re new to sailing you want to go out with Vickie. It’s the real deal. Our family of four including a 15yo and 17yo had a great time working the jib sheet, trimming the mast and manning the helm. Overall, it was a great time and one my family will remember.

5.00We had a cruise stop in St Lucia, booked a morning on the yacht for sailing adventure. best excursion ever, the other folks never showed up due to chance of rain. All the better for us, we had a brilliant morning just wo of us and got some real hands on experience. I would recommend this to anyone looking for a completely different adventure from a booze cruise, be ready to work, not to hard but lots of fun. Vicky and staff were wonderful, i cannot express my complete delight with this experience.

5.00I went on this trip with my daughter. Thoroughly enjoyed it and learned a little bit about sailing (never been on a racing yacht before), with the most important rule being......do not lose the winch handle! Found steering the vessel (probably not the correct term) much harder than it looks. I would describe it as driving a car with a rubber steering wheel and rubber suspension. We were also lucky in the respect that only two of us signed up for the trip,so we got to do far more than we would if there had been eight people. Final top tip, don't forget the sun tan lotion.

5.00Four fifty-something first time sailors thought this was the best introduction to the sport they could have ever wished for. Vicky and her first-mate Jarvis were patient and provided outstanding instruction. We all took the helm, tacked and shouted "Ready About". A wonderful morning in an amazing country. St. Lucia is the best.

5.00A thoroughly enjoyable morning’s sail with Vicky and first mate Kevin. We had 6 guests on board which was fine. This is well suited for those with and without experience as Vicky was excellent in explaining what was involved and what would happen at each stage. Everyone gets to be as involved as they like- there is no pressure either way

5.00Vicky and crewmate Curtney were friendly and relaxed on this half-day (3hr) session. Their guidance on what to do and when was a great introduction to sailing a large, multi-sail yacht. We spent the hours tacking back and forth across Rodney Bay, taking turns at the helm, and all four guests playing their part in the turns. Vicky's experience is evident, both in sailing and in making guests feel comfortable onboard, adapting her approach to the sailing experience of the guests. Whether you're looking for a refresher or an introduction, this great half-day to do.
