Spend up to 3 hours hiking on the Fox Glacier, The fly-in, fly-out heli hike combines the excitement of walking on the Te Moeka o Tuawe/Fox Glacier with the thrill of helicopter flights. By flying in you can access and explore a part of the glacier where its forces work hardest and often create spectacular ice caves and arches. You will be outfitted with boots and crampons specially designed for these ice conditions. You follow the ice steps cut by your guide as you explore the amazing formations. Please note that this is a natural and ever-changing environment. Ice features change constantly and no guarantee can be given that specific features will be seen. This is a weather dependent trip. 5.00We had an incredible experience with Fox Glacier Guiding Glacier Tours. It was both our first time in a helicopter which was truly spectacular. My face hurt from smiling so much during the flight as we moved over the mountains and landed on the glacier. The pilot was friendly and smiley and seemed to enjoy our enjoyment . We felt very safe and in good hands. The glacier hike team were amazing. They really seem to know what they are doing and showed so much passion for their role. They worked together so well and the whole experience was so professional and efficient. Everything and all safety is thoroughly explained. The clothing gear is super comfortable, clean and warm. The guides hiked us through crevices and other sights of interest. Lots of photo opportunities and fun involved- interacting with us all through out. I think we had Will as our main guide ( and Stretch). They were both soo knowledgeable, informative, friendly and had amazing energies. This will be one of our BIG days to remember. Would do again!!

5.00It was BLAST! The whole operation was super organized and safety was taken seriously. The ‘blue zinc’ duo, Katlyn and Campbell, were fun and informative. The two of them were a great team who brought our group together which made it more memorable. Being in our mid 60’s it was very doable. This tour was definitely one of our ‘highlights’ (including the blue zinc) .

5.00We had an amazing heli-hike tour with Sam at Fox Glacier Guides. The pre trip briefing was excellent and the on glacier safety instructions were very thorough. We had plenty of time during the hike to experience the various features they had selected for the tour. Outstanding and highly recommended!

5.00We booked in for the Heli Hike. When we arrived the staff were super friendly and helpful. Our guide Jack was great with his professional knowledge about the glacier. What a lifetime experience ! I highly recommend booking if you are in Fox !

5.00Amazing experience, you feel like you are on another planet. It does require a bit of balance to maneuver some of the stairs and patience for the photo ops if you are with a larger group - we were about 15 people.

5.00The Fox Glacier Heli-Hike was an incredible experience from start to finish! Everything ran like a well-oiled machine — from check-in to the helicopter ride to the hike itself. Big shoutout to our guide, Toa, who was not only super knowledgeable and fun but also rescued my phone after I accidentally dropped it into a crevasse (legend!). The helicopter ride was amazing — we even got to rearrange seats on the way back so the girls could sit up front, which was a really thoughtful touch. The group organization was also great — not sure if it was intentional, but our group was a bit younger and more active, which meant we were able to move at a slightly quicker pace that felt just right. The only suggestion I’d make is to include a designated snack break — they advised us to bring snacks, but we never had a clear moment to eat them, and it would’ve been nice to have a short, official pause for that. Overall, a total bucket list experience. Would recommend in a heartbeat!

5.00Despite the cloudy, partly rainy weather, our guide, Jakey, truly made the day special with his friendly smile and professional knowledge. He made sure we had the best views to appreciate the stunning landscape, making the experience enjoyable for everyone in our group. If you're considering a visit to Fox Glacier, I highly recommend this tour!
