We toured Pompeii, Herculaneum and Naples with Paolo. As part of his training, he has excavated in Pompeii so it was interesting to hear about his discovery. Paolo is a fountain of knowledge and, as Pompeii is so large, it was helpful to be taken directly to the important sites and not just wander around. Herculaneum is well worth visiting as it is better preserved than Pompeii and on a much smaller scale. Lastly, Paolo gave us a fantastic introduction to bustling Naples. Definitely recommend.

Paolo was great! He walked us through Herculaneum, and we were reluctant to leave at the end of the tour --the time flew by, and we felt we could have stayed much longer. His knowledge of history and archaeology was impressive, and he patiently answered all of our questions. Highly recommend!

We had a fantastic tour with Paolo in Herculaneum. He suggested this as an alternative to Pompeii and we are very glad that we took his advice! It was a great experience and he successfully kept us all engaged - including our daughters ages 7 and 11. He has deep knowledge of the area and we learned a lot and had fun on the tour. Highly recommend, grazie mille Paolo!

Do you love architecture, art, and history? Do you want to see it guided by someone who actually worked on the digs? Then there is no one better to be your guide than Paolo. We stayed at the Hotel Forum outside the west entrance to the park, so we walked across the street to enter...almost 3 hours later we were at the forum at the east side of the city having seen all the key parts that were open to the public with thorough explanations if the artisanry, architecture, history, and archaeology. We had a light lunch outside the gates and then went on to Herculaneum. much smaller than Pompeii, but very beautiful, refined, and an incredible excavation as much as can be with a modern city built on top of most of the ancient city. But this was the waterfront that many people tried to go to in order to escape by boat when the eruption happened. Sensing how important architecture and art is to us, Paolo then suggested we go see the three villas in Oplontis and Stabiae. these areas are on a ridge very close to the bay and were vacation villas. Enormous, virtually unseen by normal tourists even though they are part of the complete Pompeii three day ticket, and well worth the extra effort to go there.

High recommend! Book Paolo! I can't imagine having walked through Herculaneum without someone as knowledgeable as Paolo to iliuminate the complex life and stories within the walls of this site. We had been to Pompeii the day prior and honestly, I wish he had been our guide there as well. Our family had teens and adults, he was able to add on to our elementary understanding of the ruin, the way of life, the social structures of the time then and now in ways that made us so grateful we had come to it as well whenn in the region. It is clear he is a working scientists as well as a guide and could take us as deep as we wanted to go with geological questions, but also kept Herculaneum completely accessible and engaging to our youngest who was pretty tired that morning. Paolo was a clear and organized communicator, prompt and we are 100% happy to have toured with him. You won't regret time with Paolo. He loves archaeology, this region, and is excited to share it with you.

Ercolano is a unique place in the world and I thank Paolo Mondola so much for accompanying us on this wonderful tour. The mosaics, the charred remains of the wooden beams and the domus are suggestive. The guide was able to keep the curiosity of my son and niece alive. It was a dive into the wonders of the past and into habits and customs.
