Blagaj tekija
This region characterizes the diversity of its above-ground and underground waters. The source of the Buna is one of the largest and most beautiful in Europe. It is the finest example of an underground karst river. It flows out of a 200m cliff wall and single-handedly creates the Buna River. Unsurprisingly, the Ottoman sultan was impressed, and ordered a tekija to be built right next to it. This 16th century house/monastery was built for the Dervish cults and is still one of the most mystical places in all of Bosnia and Herzegovina. It is open to visitors all year round and serves cold drinks, tea and Turkish coffee in a beautiful garden overlooking the source of the River.
The historic urban site of Pocitelj
This unique settlement, listed as a UNESCO heritage site and recent reconstruction has returned the town to its original form. It was first mentioned in 1444 but some documents show that it was built in the late 14th century upon the order of the Bosnian King Tvrtko. Besides its stunning oriental architecture and Ottoman feel, Pocitelj hosts the longest operating art colony in southeast Europe.

Sasa from NowBosnia gave us a splendid tour of the “oasis” Kravica (waterfalls) at a good time of the day for them to be enjoyed. We also saw an early church funded by the Sultan many centuries ago that until recently was operating a massive vineyard, Roman ruins in Caplinja and the 15th century town of Pocitelj built into a hillside with the most splendid view of the Neretva River valley. Also the natural wildlife refuge of Park Prirode Hutova Blato. These little known gems of Herzegovina were worth going with Sasa to get a feel for the cultural history of this region…as well as experiencing Mostar with him on another day.

Mr Sasa is polite, knowledgeable and funny. It was a hot season so me and my companion got upgraded to a private tour. Various hot spots and secret tips were given. We had a great time discovering another side of Bosnia. Couldn't be more grateful to have this experience. Blessings from Hong Kong! :-)

The tour was really nice! I took part in the tour in the winter. Although I was the only participant, the tour took place. I didn't have to pay a surcharge either. My tour guide Saša was really cool and very accommodating. He told me a lot of interesting things about the history of Herzegovina. He responded to all my questions and wishes and directed the day trip towards me. The places we visited were just fantastically beautiful. It was one of the most beautiful tours I have done so far. The trip is highly recommended!

It is a wonderful place to calm your soul. However be careful with petty thieves around. The shoppig is better in Mostar area or any area away from the main tourist zones.

Really good tour with lunch provided. Panorama view of Mostar followed by a tour of 3 major spots in a windowless (convertible!) bus. Almost like being on safari!
