Explore some of Charleston's enchanting alleyways and historic sites on this small group, 2-hour walking tour. With our small group tours, you are guaranteed a more intimate and up-close experience. Charleston's alleyways are fortunately located within the popular historic district which allows us to include some well known points of interest and go a little "off the beaten path” while exploring the history and beauty of Charleston's enchanting alleyways. Generally, we include between four to six different alleyways/passages as well as popular points of interest like Rainbow Row and of course, tons of history! These pedestrian passageways are often overlooked, but walking along these cobbled paths is an opportunity to appreciate Charleston's rich history and hidden, more intimate charms.

Old Exchange & Provost Dungeon
The tour will begin from the Old Exchange & Provost Dungeon. Please note that we do not go inside the building.
We will explore between 4 to 6 alleyways as well as popular points of interest, some of which are located in the residential parts of the historic district we call "South of Broad".

5.00Our tour guide, Mark, generously shared his in-depth historical knowledge of Charleston. He pointed out interesting architectural features of the homes and buildings. We did the tour our first morning here and afterwards felt better able to appreciate the city.

2.00My guess is that it really depends on which guide you draw. Our guide was a nice fella but not very articulate and spent an inordinate time recounting his experiences in the tour guide business and his childhood. Not interesting in the least and certainly not why we wanted to take the tour.

5.00So glad we did this tour. Coach Dugger made the history come alive. He pointed out courtyards and gardens plus landmark buildings. My family thanked me for choosing this tour. The only thing to note is that there is a lot of standing during the talks. Wear confortabke shoes and bring some water if it is a hot day.

5.00David is an informative and entertaining guide. As a native of Charleston he knew so much about its history and architecture as well as telling us about some of it's customs and traditions. I would thoroughly recommend this tour.
