Appian Way (Via Appia Antica)
The Appian Way was a crucial road for the Roman Empire. It connected Rome to some of its most distant settlements. Originally built by Appius Claudius Caecus, the then-censor of Rome, the road connected Rome to Capua near Naples. Eventually, it extended more than 300 miles to Brindisi, Puglia on the Adriatic Coast, making it the widest and longest road in existence at the time. Called the “Queen of Roads,” it’s construction was truly momentous, especially considering it was built in 312 BC! Even compared to many of the other best attractions in Rome, The Appian Way is incredibly well-preserved. It’s made of large, flat stones, which have been firmly set in place by thousands of years of rain, wheels, and feet passing over them.
Catacombe San Sebastiano
This cemetery, named after the martyr St. Sebastian, who is buried here, was originally called "ad catacumbas". According to the widely acknowledged explanation, the name signifies "near the hollows", because of the mines of tuff located in this area. The name was later used generally to indicate all subterranean Christian cemeteries. Another ancient name of the cemetery was "Apostolic Memorial" (Memoria Apostolorum). The name derives from the liturgical celebrations, dedicated to the Apostles Peter and Paul, which took place here for a limited period in the first centuries. From the first century, the site had been intensely exploited and constructed upon. The caves and the tunnels of the mines were used for pagan and Christian rectangular wall tombs (loculi), as well smaller tombs (colombari) used to house urns. At least two residential buildings were constructed above ground, especially noted for their interior wall painting decorations.

5.00We had a fantastic time provided by Rome in limo. Our tour guide was Peter who knew the city well and brought us to most of the points to see in Rome. He allowed us plenty of time at each location for us to wander while he waited patiently for us. Should we go back to Rome, we would certainly reserve them again as it was much more enjoyable being guided than being on our own. Thanks again to Peter.

5.00We had used Rome in Limo in the past and had an excellent experience. This time, we were traveling with friends who had never visited Rome. We strongly recommended this day tour and they agreed to sign up for it. We went with them again. Although we had a different tour guide, it was, once again, an excellent tour. Our guide customized the day to our preferences and the other couple was so thankful we suggested this tour and had a great time (whew!), as did we! I would recommend this tour group to anyone. Quality is always worth the cost. Bill Reedy

5.00Our children who own a travel agency and have used Rome-In-Limo’s service recommended them to us, so we decided to give them a try. We had been on a transatlantic cruise and had paid for excursions at the various ports before ending in Rome. They were expensive, crowded, rushed, and frankly I was not ready for anything like the same when we got to Rome. I had booked the Hidden Rome Tour, and we were picked up by Steve in a nice Mercedes van. The day could not have been better. Steve took us to places in comfort and was the best tour guide we have ever experienced! Unlike most excursions with many people, there was never a rush. We visited those places we hadn’t seen on our previous trip to Rome. And our time in our private van with our Steve as our guide cost about as much as a ship sponsored excursion would have cost, but with far great comfort and leisurely time. My wife and I are elderly, so the face-paced does not suit us, however, I would recommend Rome-In-Limo for all age groups. I cannot say enough about how great their service was, and we plan on using them again on a future visit to Rome!

5.00Francesco was an exceptional tour guide. He drove us to the lesser known parts of Rome (many of which we would have never ventured out to) and was a wealth of information. He also included visits to St. Paul, St. John and St. Mary’s churches, which were not originally part of our tour. It was a chance of a lifetime to enter these churches through the main door during the Jubilee Year. I highly recommend this tour and Francesco as a tour guide!

5.00Excellent tour of Rome with a stop at St. Peter’s Basilica. Our Guide, Peter was the best guide. He toured us all around Rome, had some valuable information that he shared with us. If you’re going to Italy I would highly recommend that you use Rome in Limo. We were on a cruise and used Rome in Limo on all ports that we stopped in Italy and probably had a better experience than being on a big tour and it was cheaper than the cruise tours.

5.00Rome In Limo is a great experience!!! I use their service every time I travel to Italy. The drivers and tour guides are knowledgeable and engaging. It is a first class operation!!! It is the best way to see Rome or any city in Italy. You can relax and see the sites at your own pace without being on a strict schedule. Using Rome In Limo takes a lot of stress out of visiting bustling tourist attractions!!!

4.00Our guide was very knowledgeable and accommodating. Some attractions were closed due to the New Year’s holiday, but he made great suggestions to make up for the things we could not see. Will recommend it if you want to explore the outskirts of Rome.

5.00This is our second trip to Italy and we were so impressed with Romeinlimo the first trip for our 3 stops, we booked them again on this trip over. Again we booked the 3 excursions with them. Jany answers all questions quickly and the drivers/guides are amazing. The vehicles are super comfortable and the drivers very knowledgable. If you want stress free, but complete tours in Itally - I would 100% use this company again - in fact we are returning to Italy again in August 2025 and will be booking with this company again. You should look at their website - they have several excursions available at each port - so something for everyone. Safe, affordable, knowledgable, comprehensive and flexible - what more could you ask for?
