Set in the beautiful Dry Tropical Forest on the foothills of the Rincón de la Vieja Volcano, the hike to La Leona Fall is a unique journey that will challenge your senses and your endurance. For about 21⁄2 hours, you’ll explore uneven terrain, cross rivers, and witness the transformation of the water into a vibrant sky blue, resulting from volcanic minerals. When you arrive, you can enjoy this natural gem, a real gift of nature that invites you to connect with the beauty of the environment. It is not a recommended route for people with poor health or physical condition.

5.00I cannot say enough good things about Verny and the tour we took with him to La Leona. He is incredibly knowledgeable, professional, friendly, and so passionate about what he does. We are a family of 4, kids ages 10 and 12, and we felt safe and genuinely cared for throughout our time with him. He even took pictures for us along the tour, it was like our own personal paparazzi (in the best way :). We had a 2 hour drive back to our VRBO and along the way my daughter mentioned she loved lychee fruit, we passed someone selling them along the road and he ran out and got her a bag of fresh lychees. He's the best. We will absolutely be back to Costa Rica and look forward to doing more tours with Verny and Costa Rica Family Tours!

5.00One of the best if not the best excursion ive ever done. Verny is absolutely the best and i totally recommend him for anybody that i know. Very dedicated and tremendous knowledge of local culture snd history. Always take his clients safety seriously. Really nothing negative to write about. Phenomenal experience!

5.00Verny is amazing! He is so knowledgeable of the falls he took us to. He is also so passionate about Costa Rica, he shared so much history and insight into the local culture. He added so much value to our tour I think we have no choice but to recommend him to anyone in the area. He is a delight and made us feel so welcome and comfortable very step of our tour. We honestly can say enough good things, book a tour with him asap!

5.00This is an adventure of a lifetime. I can’t believe I hiked, swam, and slid through these beautiful caves! From pick up to drop off, Verny shared his knowledge of the animals, culture, and traditions of Costa Rica. From purchasing the most delicious roadside fruit to stopping for a tasty “tipicál” lunch and everything in between (life jackets, sunscreen, water, safety instructions), we felt safe to explore and enjoy this adventure. Thank you Verny for taking care of my family!

5.00Verny is absolutely terrific! On the drive out to the hike, he shared some history about Costa Rica, which was very educational. He is very passionate about his country and the opportunity for others to experience it. Most of all, he is passionate about the safety of your family while you are touring with him! Verny was great at making sure we had everything we needed for a successful hike, and was helpful to all of us (adults and kids) in navigating some of the more challenging parts of the hike. I also have to mention the nice touch of bringing along a fresh pineapple to share as we took a brief break along the hike….amazing!! Verny also took great pictures and videos throughout the experience and shared with us afterward. Verny is knowledgeable, friendly, caring, respectful, and we could not have been happier to share this wonderful experience with him as our guide. Highly recommend!
