From La Laguna we will take the public bus to reach the starting point of our hike. We hike on forest trails through Anaga Rural Park, where you will see the scenery and the way of life of this naturally isolated area. Its mountains are volcanic, formed by several eruptions between 8 and 3 million years ago. It is now both a protected rural park and an UNESCO World Heritage Biosphere Reserve. The area is home to mammoth plants which don’t exist anywhere else on the planet. A diversified wildlife including more than 120 local endemic species. Some of the best examples of the Canary Islands' ecosystems are to be found among the natural habitats in Anaga. Laurel trees loads of moss, lichen and lianas will make you feel like you are exploring somewhere far more exotic than Tenerife! The area is also a haven for birds and butterflies. As one of Tenerife's oldest geological regions, Anaga has much to offer those looking to get off the beaten track. We will pass close to an indigenous hamlet where the ancient inhabitants of Tenerife lived. We will return by public bus to the central bus station in La Laguna. We'll walk an average distance from 5,5 to 9 km along the route; 3 to 4:30 hours.

Sergio is an extremely friendly and experienced guide. He was able to give us a lot of interesting information about land, people and plants. We saw and learned things that we could not have experienced on our own.

Great walk!!! What is north tenerife so much more beautiful than south. We've had an amazing walk. Many explanations about the whole nature of tenerife, the big difference between north and south Tenerife, the “famers”. Good food among the locals. If you have taken this walk, you know that we have to be very careful with this beautiful nature! You need a reasonably good condition anyway.

We did a 4.5 hour hike with Sergio in the Anaga area. We booked by email. Everything went smoothly and Sergio has always responded very quickly. He sent us a Googlelink with which the meeting place was easy to find. In addition, the night before, he called again and confirmed everything again. During the hike we got a lot about the history of the island and the plant life. Sergio brought delicious sandwiches, cereal bars and apple juice for everyone at lunchtime. We can only recommend a hike with Sergio.

We wanted to do some hiking in the more remote corners of the island of Tenerife during our holiday, but were a bit nervous about getting lost, missing buses and generally being too stressed to enjoy the walks. Luckily we found Sergio, who is great: a qualified mountain guide who speaks several languages fluently. We went on two walks with him: one to La Caldera, near La Orotava and one into the Anaga. For both days, Sergio gave us clear instructions on the phone about where to meet and what to bring, including telling us about bus times - all this information was reiterated in WhatsApp messages. During the walks he helped with technique, gave us lots of information about plants, geology and history of Tenerife, and was really good company. Would definitely recommend.

We enjoyed a great hike up in the mountains in the north of Tenerife, with Sergio and his charming wife Karin. Starting out from La Laguna by bus the day didn’t look so promising as it was wet and foggy, but by the time we reached Las Carbonaras at lunchtime it was full sunshine. By then we had enjoyed a perfect hike through the laurel forest out into open country and even a glass of local wine en route (thanks, Tina!) which was an unexpected bonus. Sergio is a lively and knowledgeable guide, with a lovely sense of humour, and an ability to connect with everyone he meets. If you want to hike in a small group then we would highly recommend him and hope to hike with him again in another part of the island in the future
