Castel di Salve is one of Puglia's historic wineries, founded in 1885 in Depressa by Antonio Winspeare, Duke of Salve with the goal of producting quality table wines. Now the winery is runed by the 4th and 5th generation of the Winspeare family. Strong and proud of the ancestors tradition, we still continue to work the same land today, to produce wines of character that are clean and elegant at the same time.

The bulk of our agricultural work takes place in the historic family estate "Masseria Bosco Belvedere", located in the geographical center of the lower Salento. The focus is on the native grapes of Salento like Verdeca, Negroamaro, Malvasia Nera di Lecce and Primitivo. Furthermore we also cultivate another small vineyard in Depressa and other sites in the lower Salento, for a total of about 31 hectares of vineyards.

We'll take you on a tour of our old winery, Castel di Salve, a boutique family-run estate farming grapes and producing fine wines since 1885. You'll visit all production areas and learn about winemaking techniques and traditions: you'll learn about vine-growing down at the vineyard, then about winemaking and aging processes in the cellar. After the tour, we'll guide you into a tasting of 5 different wines from our production, which we'll chose depending on the season and availability. We'll be open to answer your questions and ready to make you have a good time at our place. Also, we advise you check how to get to our winery before making your visit request. Looking forward to meeting you!

After a friendly reception by one of the hostesses we were professionally guided through the authentic winery, estates and wine cellar. After the tour we were offered an extensive wine tasting of various types of wines. We really enjoyed and also got to learn a lot about the diversity of wines and their origin. Thank you!

The tour was interesting and the wines were quite good, particularly their Lama del Tenente. Easily the best wine we tasted in Salento. Commentary from the owner added a lot of interesting information and entertainment. A tour not to be missed!

We came to Puglia to learn and taste the wine, and Riccardo delivered with this experience. Wonderful tour of the winery, learning about the family generations that have developed the business, and finishing with a fabulous tasting. Very special experience at the Castel di Salve Winery. A heartfelt thanks to Lucia, who guided us with passion in a “private” tasting full of stories and perfumes. It was great to discover the behind-the-scenes of excellent wines, such as the evocative “Lama del Tenente”. A winery with a long history and a production that remains deliberately limited, to maintain authenticity and respect for tradition. Highly recommended!

This experience was fantastic! We did a tour of the winery, a wine tasting and a lunch in the castle. The family who run the business were beautifully welcoming and informative. It was the highlight of our time in Puglia and Salento, aside from the beaches which the family were kind enough recommend more. The lunch was incredibly fresh and the wine was delicious! We would recommend this to all in the region.

Riccardo was extremely passionate and knowledgeable. He gave a great overview of the history of the family winery. The tastings were excellent. He answered all questions. We met his dad, which was a treat and for Recommendations for a restaurant in TRICASE that he owns with Helen Miren. We loved the tour and purchased wine to send home to Texas. Highly recommend!
