  We were on Holland America's Rotterdam for this stop in Cartegena and we booked the private day tour through their excursions ($800). Julie and our driver (my apologies I forget his name) met us just outside the ship and returned us there as well, which was helpful since I travel with a mobility walker. Julie was excellent and I would highly recommend her services. She has a comprehensive knowledge of Cartagena, its sights and culture and customers, and shared her passion for her country of Columbia. We began with a visit to the Monastery for a 360 view of the city - it was well worth the effort to get to the top for the view. We then drove part the fort but didn't stop because of my walking problems. We toured the old city of Cartagena, taking in the vibrante sights and colors of the town. I had requested a stop to shop for emeralds and we went to a shop operated by her family. It was a low key visit and I brought home a wonderful souvenir. We did a lovely stop for coffee and pastries as well. We would highly recommend doing a tour with Julie Munera, who is multilingual, if you are looking for a special way to see Cartagena.

  Julie was an excellent tour guide. We had a private tour and she took us to all the highlights of the city. She was very informative while we were driving around. We had a great time. I would highly recommend her.

  Julia was an excellent guide through our journey of historical Cartagena. Our journey began with prompt pickup right outside the port and then ascended to La Popa Monastery for an aerial view of Cartagena. Julia was very knowledgeable about the monastery, the history and traditions and answered many random Colombia questions we threw at her. Next we travelled to Castillo de San Felipe where Julia once again proved her historical knowledge and provided great insight on old fort. Finally we travelled to the old wall section of town where we were able to see to Colonial architecture and Julia once again provided great insights. • Learning about Cartegena

  Julie made our entire day enriching and informative. We became familiar with Cartegena in a personal way that we would otherwise have missed out on. It was the best way to learn the city and appreciate the rich culture. Julie was friendly and terrific !!

  Julie was awesome. She had the perfect blend of history, local customs/culture and contacts. She was flexible and focused on what we wanted instead of a formal itinerary. Wish i could give her a six!

  My wife and I had an exceptional historical tour of Cartagena with Julie. She is a wonderful person, who knows all about Cartagena and it’s history. We were picked up promptly at our hotel at 9 AM in a private car with Julie. Fernando was our driver. Our first stop, was the monastery on top of a hill that overlooks all of Cartagena. The views were astonishing. She reviewed the history of this 400 year, old monastery, and an overview of the history of Cartagena and Columbia. The next stop was the fortress. She gave the history of the fortress and some of the many battles that occurred in this area. The next part of the tour was walking around Getsemani. This area is beautiful and has beautiful murals and paintings on the walls and alleyways. We made a few stops at street food vendors. All of them were amazingly good. My favorites were the grilled chorizo, sausage and beer, and the fresh made ceviche. Delicious!!! The next top was old city, or the walled city. Julie is well known in Cartagena. She explained the historical spots and we chatted with street vendors and artists. We went to many of the town squares and even took a picture with Monumento a Gertrude. We also made a stop at “Emerald King” jewelry shop. We actually bought some beautiful jewelry at a fantastic price. Julie made many recommendations on places to eat and places to see on our trip. We actually stopped and made a dinner reservation for Tuesday night at a very nice restaurant. Julie provided a lot of insight on safety in the city and how to deal with the street vendors. (I feel very safe and in Cartagena) At the end of the tour, Julie had Fernando picked us up, and he drove us back to our hotel.   We hired Julie for two different days. On the first day we were driven around Cartagena to see La Popa, and other sites. She took us to the huge food market and had us try about five fruits native to the area and then we had a fish dinner there. The second day she took us to Palenque, the village where enslaved Africans ran to, where we met the 4th and 5th generation descendants who educated us about their history and lives today. Julie spoke excellent English and was well informed about her city. I highly recommend her for any size group. She even recommended a lovely jewelry store, Emerald King.

  Our group had two tours with Julie while we were vising Cartagena. Julie provided excellent transportation, snacks and water, and she provided excellent information about Cartagena. Julie was flexible with the tours and let our group make some changes to accommodate our groups wishes. She had endless knowledge about the city and surrounding area. We were a mainly English speaking group and she is very fluent. But most important, Julie is fun. She educated and entertained us on the whole tour. My husband and I both had tours with Julie several years ago, and she has only gotten better.

  We really enjoyed our tour with Julie and strongly recommend her. She was friendly, knowledgeable, and great story teller. By the end, we had learned a lot about Cartagena's history and culture and we felt like we had been friends with her for years. I traveled with my two daughters in their 20's (they speak Spanish) and a friend who mostly speaks English and Julie did a great job managing the two languages so that everyone could understand.
