The Hobbiton Movie Set is beginning The Shire’s Maintenance and Restoration project. The first stage of work is set to get underway from 01 June to September 2025 and will see major maintenance undertaken on one of the Hobbit Holes, not directly visited on the Hobbiton Movie Set Tour route as well as on the Party Field. During this period, construction and maintenance equipment and noise will be present. Tours will continue as normal but will take an alternate route around the construction zone, while being able to get a glimpse of the work that goes into keeping Hobbiton Movie Set as magical as it looked in the films.

5.00You don't need to be a huge fan of the movies to enjoy this tour and experience. Tracy was a great driver, funny, knowledgeable and gives clear details on when and where to meet. The farm and Hobbiton is picture perfect. I was there for lunch which was enjoyable. Overall a lovely day out. Highly recommended.

5.00Lovely, lovely! A well worth tour. It’s about a two hour bus ride to the site, great tour guide. Walked through the village with our guide. Very exciting! We had a wonderful buffet lunch afterwards. I highly recommend this adventure.

4.00Throughly enjoyed myself as a LoTR fan but unfortunately everything felt a bit rushed. I booked onto the Hobbiton only tour not Hobbiton plus Rotorua thinking this will allow more time there but we got both exactly the same as shared buses. Lunch was great but only received 45 mins to have lunch, dessert and a hot drink which made it all rushed - plus it was buffet style so had to queue. We also only received 15 mins to drink your complementary drink at the Green Dragon (remember to bring your passport as they would only take NZ driving licences) and then a strict 15 mins at the gift shop at the end. We arrived back in Auckland at 15:45 ish, making me feel that we could have had a bit more time to enjoy ourselves which was a shame - but Hobbiton is beautiful!

45mins buffet lunch is too short!

4.00Good experience to see the place, walking is required but not recommended if you want to bring little children. The buffet was pretty decent spread but 45mins for the buffet is just too short. My bff and myself were gobbling down all the food. I suggest a full one hour time for the lunch. 15mins extra wouldn’t kill isn’t it?
