The area spans 450 meters in diameter, with constant white smoke, barren land, and a strong sulfur smell, earning its nickname as a “hell-like” valley. This natural wonder offers a glimpse into Hokkaido's volcanic activity. (Accessible during winter) Oyunuma Pond: Formed by an eruption of Mt. Hiyoriyama, this steaming crater lake features 130°C sulfur springs, providing hot spring water to local inns. A viewing platform offers panoramic views, or visitors can take a closer look by walking to the lakeside. However, trails and the outdoor footbath area are closed during winter for safety reasons.

It’s the quickest way to see major tourist attractions in Hokkaido. However, because the destinations are far in between, the whole sight seeing felt rushed. Go to a place for a few minutes, drive for an hour or so to next destination and then stay for few minutes. You will end up driving on the road more than exploring the destinations. Probably a 2-day tour would be appropriate to appreciate each destination.

It allows you to see most of the region. I wish I had a little more time on Otaru. Jay our Guide was very friendly, he gave us lots of tips on each spot. He speaks fluent Japanese and Mandarin English.

Sophia was great and gave lots of shopping recommendations and managed our time down to exact five minutes. The bus ride is long but beautiful, almost like a scene from narnia.

Everything about this tour was relaxing and enjoyable. Despite pretty heavy snowfall, they continued with the tour safely and exactly on schedule. Were able to spend time exploring a little and choose where we want to eat. Tour guide was very good and informative. One of the best tours I’ve been on.

Rii was a great guide and knowledgeable about the tour, giving us pointers on where to go. The day was snowy but still we enjoyed the trip. Trip started and ended on time. I would recommend for other travellers.

I would not recommend this tour. The stops were not long enough. We could not do all that the tour guide was recommending for each stop. Tour guide was impersonal. There was not much interaction with the group.

By far the worst day of my trip. Would not repeat even if I was paid to do so. First, the meeting place - done so at the central station making it easy to get to. Their instructions were to go to the person holding a yellow flag with their logo on it. However there were at least 2 people with the same yellow GoGoDay flag that seemed annoyed at the confusion of following their instructions. The bus was incredibly uncomfortable - I am 5'10 and could not sit facing straightforward without my knees digging into the hard plastic seat-back in front of me. Not sure why, but they never turned the heat in the car on (despite it actively snowing and being -5 to 0C throughout the whole day. There were no outlets to charge a phone or other device while riding, which would have at least somewhat improved the ~7h total that we ended up spending on the bus. The second site that we stopped at was the bear exhibit, my entire reason for choosing this tour over any other or snow sports while on Hokkaido. Prior to day of & departure, there was a brief connection on WhatsApp regarding departure site but no confirmatory communication that this was an additional fee (~1000 Yen) that we had to pay. It was not included in the original payment (~13,000 Yen) which would seem to have been much simpler to just include as a whole package. Most importantly, there was no communication that this experience was cash only until about an hour after we had left Sapporo. There was no communication prior to leaving that there would be no ATMs or cash-back options available at the stores we were going to*. Once we discussed this, there was no attempts at a solution by the guide to include simply adding this cost to my card or an electronic fund exchange for cash. The response was essentially 'damn, that sucks.. we'll leave around X time.' Instead, I spent the ~80 minutes we were at that site just walking around stores (which would take cards as payment but just not for the ticket) and staying out of the cold. In addition, the site chosen for lunch at the bear ranch was also cash only - while it was stated that this meal was not included, there was no communication about not being able to buy food without physical money (in the same building as the gift shop, which had card readers). The other stops we got to were also duds given the weather, Lake Toya had less than 50m visibility to it. The last site we arrived at was by far the best - simply because it had a train station and I could leave this horrible tour early to go back to Sapporo. The JR Train was vastly more comfortable than the bus, and I didn't even have a seat on it. *On review, there is a small footnote that meals are not provided. Regarding the bear ticket, this was only noted in 1 place on the Viator listing and not clearly in the document sent or in messages between myself & the guide. There was no mention in any place of these sites not taking any digital payments and no way to reconcile this / get cash on day of. The weather that day caused some changes in our schedule which were unavoidable and promptly communicated by the guide. The basic explanation of sites and timeline to include when to get back to the bus were clear to understand in English. Sites did have ample time to see the basics with maintaining our timeline given the changes required with the weather.

I had a good trip thanks for our guide XiXi and bus driver. We visited three major attractions in Sapporo area, including hell valley, Toya lake and otaru. XiXi explained very well about each place and interesting facts. Highly recommend for folks who want to taste Sapporo surrounding area in a short time
