Start your day off with a horse riding adventure in Iceland and explore the unspoiled beauty of its nature in comfort. Our horse riding tour is designed especially for beginners, who want to experience the thrill of riding the amazing Icelandic horse while enjoying the breathtaking scenery around them. Led by experienced guides, you will take a ride through moss-covered lava fields and along riding paths, surrounded by stunning vistas of Iceland's nature, like the panoramic view of the majestic Bláfjöll mountains. Our guides will ensure that you feel safe and comfortable during the ride, and will make sure that you have plenty of opportunities to get to know the Icelandic horse. Please be at the riding center 30 minutes prior to departure.

Great riding experience in Iceland

5.00We had an amazing experience riding with Íshestar! From the initial safety videos to our interaction with the guides, everything was first class and very organized. Our guide even took the extra step in lining our family up for a group photo, nice touch! We are all beginner riders so they made this experience very easy and enjoyable. Not to mention our horses were very sweet and gentle!

5.00My horse was sure-footed, soft mouthed and mannerly. I enjoyed riding a breed I never had hoped to meet. But in the paddock after the tack was pulled, I received a gift. Other riders were leaving but I rubbed my horse and scratched her where she was itchy. Then another horse honored me with a speculative amble over. I was sniffed and remained calm but joy was building as I scratched it too.. A other gentle horse came over! I received a group hug, my tears blending with shedding winter horsehair. Four horses encouraged me to rub them and share our spaces. So these horses told me they like people. They are treated well. Thank you!

5.00Such a wonderful experience. The guides were very helpful and paying attention if someone felt a little unsafe. The horses were so nice, and seemed to be very week treated. We went as beginners and it felt very safe. All in all this was a great experience.

5.00The highlight of our trip to Iceland. The perfect way to take in the spectacular Icelandic scenery coupled with the chance to meet and share your trust with the amazing Icelandic Horse. Upon arrival we were welcomed to the riding centre and offered refreshments, All the staff are very friendly and knowledgeable. Offering you the choice of the beginner ride or the more experienced ride where your horse will take you out on a fast paced “Tolt” through the unique Icelandic landscape to view the lava field against the stunning ice capped mountains. I would certainly recommend this trip even if you have never ridden a horse before. Here’s wanting to back out again.

5.00...had a very lovely experience. I've not ridden a horse since I was a kid, but the guides were very patient and gentle with both the horse and myself, and after about 20 minutes I felt thoroughly comfortable. The horses were gorgeous, gentle, and clearly well cared for. The scenery was spectacular, and even if the weather was a bit rough (hail, snow, and rain), the experience was magical. The guides cater to different skill levels, and more advanced riders were given the option to join a faster paced group, while us amateurs could stay with a like-minded group going at a walking pace. The guides were nice enough to come by and snap photos of us on our horses, too, which was very thoughtful. The stables are very well-equipped, and they had plenty of rain pants (a necessity), helmets, and gloves. You could also buy decent gloves on site for a little less than $15. For an advanced rider this experience may be a little too basic, but for me, it was absolutely ideal!

5.00We had a great time. The horses were awesome, just the right mix of feisty and well behaved. The guides were friendly, helpful and knowledgeable. Amazing views. Would definately do it again.
