From the moment we were picked up in the early morning, everything was well organized and smooth. The staff helped us board the balloon safely, and before we knew it, we were slowly rising into the sky. It was still dark, but as we floated higher, the first rays of sunlight appeared on the horizon. Watching the sunrise from above the Nile River was pure magic. The sky turned pink and gold, and the light spread over ancient temples and villages below. From our vantage point, we could see Hatshepsut’s Temple, Medinet Habu, and the Colossi of Memnon—all glowing in the morning sun. The air was cool and calm, and it felt like time had paused. The experience was quiet and meditative, but also full of wonder. It gave me a new appreciation for the layout of the West Bank and how ancient Egyptians chose where to build.
