Hurricane Ridge is the premier snowshoeing destination in Olympic National Park. With provided snowshoes, trekking poles, roundtrip transportation, and an optional picnic lunch, this is a turnkey experience to snowshoe atop Hurricane Ridge in the Olympic Mountains. The tour is led by an experienced winter hiking guide and overviews the basics of snowshoeing, avalanche awareness, and winter safety.

Our meet-up location is in Port Angeles, WA, which is the main epicenter for exploring Olympic National Park. Please note that this is about a 3 hour one-way trip from Seattle.

Hurricane Ridge

After our shuttle from Port Angeles to Hurricane Ridge, we will begin our snowshoe tour at about 10:00 AM. After eating a picnic lunch at the midpoint of our trip, we aim to return back to the bus between 1:00 PM - 2:00 PM. Our winter shuttle bus departs Hurricane Ridge at 2:30 PM.

Excellent experience! A group of 6 of us , first time snow shoeing with varying ages and agility took the guided tour with Eric and Pete. It was a fantastic experience! The guides definitely enjoy what they do. They were always checking on us, providing us with tips and ensuring everyone was doing well. They know the routes best, what to look out for and which layers to take off when exerting ourselves! Pete also had great jokes as he does improv. Eric's experience as a guide and fun facts regarding the growths on trees was interesting. Lunch was excellent. This is the way to go and the shuttle driver was great on the twisty roads up.

I wanted to snow shoe on Hurricane Ridge for the longest time, and I decided to go with a guide so I could just relax and enjoy myself. It was so worth it! Tommy was great at making me feel welcome and getting to know me. The guides were constantly checking on everyone and customized the trek based on everyone's needs. We had perfect visibility and it was a wonderful experience!

Tommy and his crew are knowledgeable and very accommodating. The trip was perfect from beginning to end. Hurricane Ridge has spectacular views and the snowshoeing paths are fun and easy to navigate.

Great winter snow shoeing adventure on the Hurricane Hill trail. Tommy , Eric and Trevor were great guides - constantly focusing on safety while providing great information about the flora and fauna of Olympus National Park. We would wholeheartedly recommend Olympic Hiking Company to anyone wishing to experience the great outdoors!

We live in Port Angeles, but hadn’t snowshoed before, so we signed up for the guided tour to learn. This is a lovely experience from start to finish. The owner Tommy answered all my questions, our two guides, Tracy & Amy, were attentive, welcoming and knowledgeable. I ended up being the most tired/winded of the group toward the end, and one of them stayed with me & offered conversation & tips on how to go uphill (I have a hard time breathing while going up a hill, no matter how many times I walk/jog my hilled road.) The snowshoes and poles they provide worked great and our guides provided insight into other brands and features we may want if we buy our own. And the sandwich from Country Aire is always tasty. I love that this tour uses the local, yummy grocery store for lunches.

Great experience from start to finish. The registration was easy and hassle free pick up and shuttle to the mountain without having to wait in long lines or pay park entrance fee. Shuttle took us right to front door of lodge. Guides were awesome from getting us all geared up to educating us on the area and techniques. They were very accommodating to all the various skill sets and fitness levels of people in the group so no one felt left behind. Communication leading up to tour day was great, explaining all the things we needed to know and do and bring. Thank you for a great time.

OMGosh, what an incredible day! Ten ladies from Shelton Ladies Society took on the challenge of snowshoeing for our first time, for almost all of us. The two-hour drive to Port Angeles was totally worth it. The Olympic Hiking Co. had all the specifics in-place, and everything went without a hitch. The staff is friendly and knowledgeable of the sport. Karissa, our guide, was both experienced and informative. She was fun, adventurous, and heartwarming. We had the absolute best time with her. We all gave the Olympic Hiking Co. FIVE STARS!!! Tommy, the owner, is very responsive with his communications...he welcomed our never-ending barrage of questions, was supportive in our concerns, and stood by his word on the coordination and program provided. I would recommend using Olympic Hiking Co. for snowshoeing indeed, and any of the other incredible adventures they offer. I know you won't be disappointed!

My husband and I enjoyed the final snowshoe tour of the 2022 season. The guiding service was excellent--from the information shared, to the experience in helping us learn snowshoeing. We had fun with our fellow snowshoers too. The trip was designed to help us enjoy the magnificent setting. The guides knew the terrain and were well-equipped to allow us all the freedom to experience our surroundings without worry about the winter hazards that they are fully knowledgeable about and prepared for. This was a wonderful experience and highly recommended!
