• One of the most unique and memorable activities we've ever done as a family

  Our family (2 adult 3 kids) were visiting Iceland for the first time and wanted to find an activity we could do with animals. Being a family of dog owners we thought this sounded like the perfect experience. Spoiler alert: it was! But read on if you'd like to know why. From the moment we were picked up in town by Gunni (plus a husky), we immediately felt like we were just catching up with a friend. He drove us all back to their place and made sure we were all comfortable before releasing the huskies - what an experience! Seeing the smiles on our kids faces as almost 30 huskies came rushing out to meet them was a moment to remember. After spending time getting to know the huskies, we went on a beautiful husky aided hike through the nearby forests. Being September it was crisp but not freezing, and the scenery was breathtaking. The walk wasn't exhausting, so it was a great time to chat with the guides and bond with the huskies. When we returned back to their house, we had a good amount of time to just relax in the house with the huskies. Gunni made us all feel right at home, sharing stories about his family, their huskies, and the region. We definitely forgot we were on a tour and just felt like we were hanging out with friends. This has to be one of the most unique and memorable activities we've ever done as a family, and an experience I would recommend to anyone visiting the area.

  I thank Ganni, and his 33 beautiful children, for the incredible kindness and warmth that you give to this furry happiness. For the first time in 4 years I found myself in a place of total pure love, which only these incredible creatures are capable of - DOGS. By the way - this man, Ganni, whose dignity deserves respect, specially went to catch up with me, and deliver me to Akureyri, so that I would get there before nightfall. I RECOMMEND THIS WONDERFUL PLACE. THANKS FROM UKRAINE

  Had the absolute best experience meeting Gunnar, Maria and all their beautiful huskies! Loveliest couple who welcomed us into their home, were so kind and shared their stories of the huskies upbringing, how they compete and how they are looked after. It was a privilege to meet the dogs - so well behaved! and also their friendly owners. A fond memory from our Iceland trip - would recommend for any dog lovers :)

  I would give this experience 5 stars plus, plus, if I could. From the moment that Gunnar picked me up from my hotel and drove me through the stunning countryside to his home, and the home of his huskies, I knew this would be a memorable experience - and it was! From the avalanche of affection and kisses from the huskies on my arrival, to meeting Maria his wife, to hearing Gunnar's life stories, this experience is entirely different to what is usually available to the traveller. The huskies are loved, and treated as family, the lifestyle here is probably tough at times, but this family have created a family business that is genuine, fun, and will be remembered as the peak of my holiday. If I ever visit Akureyri with my grandchildren this experience will be top of our list. Thank you Gunnar and Maria - and huskies xx

  We did the Husky petting here in March 2025. This was such a lovely experience - by this time of the holiday we were really missing our own dog. The dogs were very sweet and affectionate and they had puppies too. We really enjoyed this very much - would very much recommend this to everybody who loves dogs. The owners were very helpful too - they picked us up in town and took us back afterwards

  We had a wonderful time petting the huskies at goHusky. Being surrounded by 29 beautiful, friendly, cuddly huskies for an hour - what more can you ask for? We wanted to sign up for dog sledding but timing didn't allow it and this was such a great alternative. Gunnar and Maria were really friendly and we loved Gunnar's stories - he is quite an inspiration!

  An incredible experience that brought so much joy to our trip. The husky’s are stunning and so well cared for. It was really fascinating to learn how Go Husky run and we were warmly welcomed. We would highly recommend visiting this lovely family! Thank you to Go Husky for allowing us time with your amazing dogs and for providing us with a beautiful experience.

  Gunni and his wife were absolutely spectacular and very welcoming. My fiance and I were the only ones there which made it super personal. Gunni and his wife were beyond knowledgeable on huskies and it was nice to hear how they went from owning 1 pup to owning 21 of them! I highly recommend this and even tho I didn't take a sledding tour I know that would be amazing as well! Book this today!

  Do not hesitate in booking this, it is a slice of heaven on earth. The pups are wonderful, you will fall in love instantly. The humans in charge are an amazing couple, living their best life in one of the most beautiful spots on the planet. Go, soak in the Husky love, your heart will grow ten sizes, it is pure zen being amongst these gorgeous creatures. One of my favourite days ever, can't wait to see them all again. Utter bliss.

  From the moment Gunni greeted us at our hotel to take us to his husky wonderland, we felt a warm local connection. He has such a love for what he does and a great manner setting up what to expect. When we arrived the dogs were all waiting for us, tails wagging. I could have cried with joy. I’ve loved huskies my whole life and have never been around so many. It’s amazing what this family is doing and seeing them in their home element is incredible. Highly recommend a stop here. PS: the view is stunning, too! Would love to come back for some husky therapy.
