James was the perfect tour guide for this very informative tour of the City of London. Until the tour I hadn’t fully appreciated the rich history and special culture of this small part of London, nor how powerful a place it holds in the economy. James has an extraordinary depth of knowledge, and what really set him apart was his ability to bring centuries of history to life with engaging stories and fascinating details you simply won’t find in any guidebook. He struck the perfect balance between the City’s ancient past — from its Roman origins to the Great Fire — and its role as one of the world’s most influential financial centres today. The route was thoughtfully planned, weaving through hidden courtyards, centuries-old churches, and iconic landmarks, revealing layers of the City that most people walk past without a second glance. James was also wonderfully accommodating of questions, no matter how obscure, and always had a compelling answer ready. Whether you’re a Londoner who thinks they know the city or a first-time visitor, this tour will genuinely surprise you. I left with a completely new appreciation for that famous Square Mile and found myself pointing out details to friends for weeks afterwards. Highly, highly recommended — don’t miss it.

The tour was very informative, Kevin’s knowledge was exceptional. Kevin was engaging with all participants, his antidotes added to the delivery of the tour. Definitely recommend for both Londoner's and visitors to the City.

We took the City of London walking tour and our guide was Ben… although everyone seems to call him “Big Ben.” Which feels appropriate once you see how tall he is and start hearing how much history the guy has in his head. Ben really knows the history of London and delivers it in a way that actually keeps your attention. A little humor here and there… a good story… and suddenly two hours of history doesn’t feel like school anymore. Nobody wants a guide just rattling off dates and names the whole time. We also got lucky with the weather. For March day in London it was beautiful… which made walking around the city much nicer than we expected. There were about 15 people on the tour, with eight of us traveling together. The walk is over two hours, but it’s not difficult. Ben also tries to stop in places where people can at least take a break while he explains what you’re looking at. And when Ben starts talking about London’s history… it just sort of flows out of him. The group definitely seemed to enjoy it. For a free walking tour, this was a great value and we’re glad we did it. If you get Big Ben as your guide… you’re in good hands.

Great tour with a very knowledgeable guide. I recommend doing it in the morning since the area is not too busy and you can have lunch in the city right after. It's a good walk rich with historical sights and notable mentions to pop culture.
