Explore Icy Strait in style aboard our custom built 6 passenger whale watching catamaran with an enclosed heated cabin, restroom, indoor seating, outdoor seating, & 360 degree walk around viewing deck. We limit our vessel to 6 passengers max (whether private or mixed) to provide our guests with an uncrowded, relaxed, and intimate wildlife experience.
On the day of your tour, we will pick you up from your cruise ship port and return you via van. Our excursion is 3 hours and 45 minutes from pick up to drop off (includes meeting, transit, & loading time). We designed this excursion to be one of the longest whale watching tours offered in Icy Strait. This extra time on the water allows us the opportunity to fully experience Icy Strait's rich diversity of marine wildlife.

We designed our calendar to accommodate as many ships as possible. A calendar listing specific ships can be found on our Vivid Endeavors website.

Icy Strait
Icy Strait is a legendary body of water that connects the protected inside waters of Southeast Alaska to the open Pacific Ocean. The nutrient rich waters of Southeast Alaska make it one of the most productive ecosystems in the world. During the summer months, these abundant fjords become the ideal home and feeding ground for a large population of Humpback Whales. Humpbacks travel to the area every year after their winter breeding season in the warmer waters of Hawaii and Mexico. After navigating over 3000 miles, we often see the same individual humpbacks return to Icy Strait year after year. Humpbacks aren’t the only wildlife in the area. Our trips often encounter Sea Lions, Seals, Porpoise, Sea Otters, Bald Eagles, Coastal Brown Bears along the shoreline, & our favorite – the awe inspiring Orca better known as the Killer Whale.
Hoonah
On the day of your tour, we will meet you at your cruise ship port and then transport you through the town of Hoonah to the local harbor where our whale watching vessel is docked. Our brief van ride offers beautiful views of the surrounding landscape. Occasionally, we'll even see wildlife (including Eagles) on our ride to the vessel. After your time on the water, we will transport you back to your cruise ship docking area. The van ride is approximately 5 minutes.

5.00THE ABSOLUTE BEST TOUR AND TOUR GUIDE!!!!! 1000% recommend Seth and this tour! The boat only had our group of 4 and two others and was a very spacious boat! Anytime we saw wildlife everybody had a crystal clear view! We were lucky enough to see so many beautiful animals! Inclusions dall porpoise swimming right next to the boat, a group of at least 8 humpback whales bubble feeding, and multiple humpback whales breaching the surface! Our guide knew all the best places to see the animals and how to get them to best interact with us. Such a good tour and so nice to have such a small group when coming off a cruise ship!

5.00Amazing ride! Seth went the extra mile to make sure we saw as much as we can! From whales to seals and even puffins. A bonus… the boat ride was smooth and cabin comfortable! The hot chocolate very much appreciated since it was a little chilly.

5.00Our tour was nothing short of amazing! Out of all our Alaska stops, this was by far our favorite excursion. The location is breathtaking, with beautiful mountains, stunning waves, and incredible scenery everywhere you look. The wildlife alone makes this trip unforgettable. We saw whales, sea lions, bears, and eagles, and we were lucky enough to witness bubble-net feeding, which was absolutely incredible. The boat offers excellent views from every area, making it easy to enjoy the experience no matter where you are. The unlimited snacks and hot chocolate were a wonderful bonus, and Seth was friendly, knowledgeable, and attentive throughout the tour. Always support local businesses when you can—you will not regret choosing this excursion. It was truly one of the highlights of our Alaska adventure!

5.00Seth at Vivid Endeavours uses a smaller vessel which provides a very friendly and practical solution. His knowledge of the key locations was very impressive. He latched on to a group of whales that were performing the bubble fishing routine and he was able to monitor their sub-surface calls so that we could follow them and know very accurately where they were about to surface. We witnessed the feeding several times as well as seeing other wildlife during the trip. Seth was a great host and I thoroughly recommend his services.

5.00Captain Seth took us on an unforgettable adventure around the waters of icy strait. We saw whales, sea lions, and otters! And had a great time being on the water with beautiful views. The small boat size was perfect because we didn’t have to compete for pictures and viewing time, it was all views all the time! Finally, he had great communication leading up to our adventure. I would definitely recommend!
