The Indian River, Cold Soufrière, and Fort Shirley tour is unique because it combines a serene, mystical mangrove river cruise with Dominica's unique cold geothermal features and a significant historical site. Visitors experience a magical journey on the Indian River, see the distinct "cold" volcanic phenomena at the geothermal site, and explore the historically rich Fort Shirley in Cabrits National Park.
An Air conditioned van and experienced guide to all the sites. Most times this tour is private or small groups only.

5.00Amazing experience with fantastic driver/guide (Leonard). Can’t recommend high enough…11/10! Leonard was at the cruise port to meet us and through the day was aware of timings to ensure we were back at the port on time. His local knowledge was superb and added to our enjoyment of the day. He went above and beyond to ensure everything was perfect.

5.00It was fantastic, beyond expectations! We were incredibly lucky with our guide, Lennart. He was a top guy, showing us much more than he needed to. He was already waiting for us at the cruise terminal across the street at 9:00 AM, and although the tour was supposed to be 5 hours, it turned into 8 hours. The lunch was also delicious; we had roti, and we only returned to the boat after sunset. Thank you, Lennart, you deserve the title of best employee in all of Dominica! He also knew everything about the island, and on the way back, he even put on some nice local music. In one word: amazing!! het was fantastisch boven verwachting we hadden super veel geluk met onze gids Lennart hij was een top vent liet ons veel meer zien dan hij hoefde ook waren we 0900 stond hij cruiseterminal aan de overkant en we zouden tour van 5 uurtjes hebben maar is 8 uur geworden ook de lunch was lekker roti hebben we op en we gingen na zonsondergang pas terug op boot Lennart dank je je verdient de titel beste werknemer van heel Dominica Cornelia y Boy y Justin y Fernanda

5.00Our driver was Leonard and he was fantastic. We learned about the volcano area, Fort Shirley (a complete fort not just rocks), ate local for lunch and ended with a peaceful river boat ride. He knew the land, the trees, the water, habitat. Apparently they have a beach called champagne beach with actual bubbles. If time, I would have loved to see and feel that and skip volcano area. You really see the island and learn about the people and culture.

5.00This trip was phenomenal, from the start with Tiffany, whobdid her bestie make sure that we were catered to. Lennard, is an excellent driver and guide. Very safe and knowledgeable. Ajali , our indian river guide was very professional but friendly. They entire process was fantastic. Definitely a recommendation

5.00Our guide was great and very informative. He had a lot of knowledge about the plants trees and local history. Fort Shirley is extensive and days could be spent there and the cold volcano was interesting

5.00We thoroughly enjoyed our time exploring the island with Kenny. He was knowledgeable and shared good information about the island and its culture. He was especially patient with us on the brief hike to Cold Soufriere and when my husband thought we were taking the small boat in the Indian Ocean! 🤣 Inside joke, but nonetheless, Kenny was kind and again very patient. Thank you for a great day of adventure!

5.00Favorite overall excursion I did while island hopping on my cruise. Our guide Tiffany was fantastic and so funny. A great way to get out of Roseau and see the fantastic northern and western parts of Dominica. Thank you Tiffany! This excursion is a must. Highlight is definitely the Indian River boat ride.

5.00This 3 part tours was fantastic due to a couple reasons. First, this is a three part tour. You go up to the top of the mountain and look at the waters bubbling up from the mountain and the volcano. The sulfur type clay is healing! Then you head down to Fort Shirley, where you get a little taste of the British and French history of the island and its military history. Lastly, you float down the river in a guide powered boat looking at the Indian river. Watch out for the fish and crabs! But I think the best part was our guide, Lennard, who was one of the best guides I ever did a tour with. He grew up in the country and had such a knowledge of all the plants and trees. He quizzed us along the way, though we failed miserably, he kept trying to teach us things. His engagement was authentic and genuine. He was so knowledgeable and excited to take us out on the journey. This made all the difference in the world.
