Definitely worth the visit with stunning views from the top of Innsbruck. It was snowing in mid December and families could take part in free sledding activities offered at Seeberger (the penultimate peak) or enjoy the heavy snow at the Hungerburg summit. Ski lifts at Seeberger were closed at this time as the snow was not sufficiently heavy, but check the Nordkette website for live updates on weather conditions.

The ticket is expensive (56€) and long as it includes a train and two funiculars. There's plenty of waiting time if everything goes well. In our case there was a technical problem and we had an hour-long break without anyone giving us any information. Bad organization. Once upstairs the views are amazing. In winter you can not walk much through the snow and ice but it is really worth the views of the city and the mountain range. We climb on a very clear day.

Very expensive for a family. Food is very expensive. View amazing. It is not worth the money to go to Restaurant Seegrube. Food was not so good. The place should need som facelifting. Feels like using the tourists and get so much money as possible. Local guess cannot afford it.

Were disappointed, having been told by more than one source , this was included in the Welcome Card, only for ticket people here to say not. As had previously been to the top we only wanted the train ride. Good to experience the hydraulics between carriages. Bit pricey for what it is.

Decided to go to the top as we found it advertised on line. Great decision. The funicular and cable car were amazing. Walked up to the cross and weren't disappointed by th views. Incredible views over the city and surrounding mountains. Definitely worth a visit

It was really very good, better than expected. Yes it gets very busy, but we waited for the next train so we were right at the front. We didn't get out, so did the round trip. Is clearly a popular tourist ride, I doubt many locals use it, even though that is what it was originally built for (see the original Hungerburg funicular Wikipedia, this new one is faster and carries more passengers per hour). Can imagine it's a nightmare to use to get to and from the Alpine Zoo though. Anyway, we enjoyed it!!

We paid 48,50€ (combined ticket bahn + zoo) to make 5 minutes journey. Let me explain better: we went down from Hungerburg to the AlpenZoo, we visited the zoo (it took us a couple of hours) and on the way back (without any warning, without anything) we see the turnstiles blocked, flashing, red, and we hear a voice that tells us “FAILURE, GET AWAY FROM THE STATION”, without being given any explanation on how to return to the parking lot where we had put the car. Bottom line? We had to take two buses at 32 degrees in the shade, a total of 1 hour of travel, to make a piece that would take three minutes on the railway. Suspended in the middle of the mountain with a small child. Great Austrian efficiency, congratulations

Pretty pricey for the trip up the mountain. We'd bought tickets before we realised just how cramped the train up was and how long the wait was between each train. We thought it would be better going up later in the afternoon (about 4pm) but they really squeeze as many in as possible which spoils the experience. Some families with pushchairs got left behind as there was just no room for them. As one train goes down, the next cable car spits people out, so waiting for a quieter train isn't an option either. Views were great once we got up there.

This is a fun and easy way to get to the Hungerburg station to take the aerial tram to the top of Innsbruck. You board the funicular at the Congress station, which is an easy 5-minute walk from the Golden Roof. It’s a scenic ride up. When you exit at the Hungerburg station, there are a few restaurants. It’s also where you catch the aerial tram to the top, where the views are even more spectacular.
