Cabuya has one of the best intermediate surf spots in the country, this is a point break, this means the waves will break around the same area and has a channel to paddle out behind the waves. With long and perfect waves will give you the chance to practice the techniques of the intermediate level such as # 1 Paddle back out from the breaking waves using the turtle dive to pass waves. #2 Sit on the surfboard with control and manage to turn the board and prepare to catch the waves.#3Lie down with balance on the board and do long, deep paddings to catch the wave before it brakes. #4 Takeoff on the wave make the bottom turn and set up the surfboard on a line to ride the face of the wave.

The beautiful area of Cabuya has a couple of the best point brakes for the intermediate level of surfing in the country, with long, perfect, and gentle waves for right and left is the perfect option to take your surfing from beginner to intermediate. Here we will start to learn the intermediate techniques of surfing to be able to paddle out behind the braking waves area and catch the waves before it's brakes to be able to ride the waves to the side on the face of the wave. After the theoretical introduction to behavior in the water, safety protocol for the intermediate level of surfing, and techniques of crossing waves and turn to the side, we will paddle out in the direction to the channel (were the water come back out after the waves pull water in the bay) where we wait and have a rest until we are ready to catch a wave. Once you ready to catch a wave we will get closer to the breaking waves area to start the fun. the session is usually between one and a half or two hours depending on surf conditions and your fiscal resistance. classes here are a maximum of two participants per instructor.

5.00I had the pleasure to enjoy five days intermediate surfing with Guillermo. I had an incredible time and never did so much progress in such a short time. Guillermo is an amazing surf coach and he brings out the best in you! He challenges you, which I loved and always makes sure you are safe in the water. I can highly recommend to anyone - no matter if beginner, intermediate or advanced 🌊🫶🏄🏼♀️ Best Surfing Ever!

5.00I took 4 lessons with Guillermo and was super happy with everything. Guillermo is a super nice and funny teacher who also makes you feel safe in the water. Surflessons do not only include surfing but also a beautiful hike to Playa Grande and some fresh fruit. We were always a super small group so I learned so much so fast! If I can, I will definitely come again!

5.00I'm a 69 yr old women that decided to take my first surf lesson with my adult daughters. It was not just a surf lesson but an entire adventure. A beautiful hike to get to the beach. The lesson was awesome. Guillermo made modifications for me because it was hard for me to pop up on my knees. I was able to stand up several times! It was so fun, Guillermo was very patient and funny. Just a great all around experience. I would do it again in a heart beat.

5.00I had two sessions with Guillermo and they were some of the best surf lessons I've had. The setting in Cabuya is beautiful and perfect conditions for learning. Guillermo is a fantastic teacher super friendly and encouraging, and very good at matching his coaching to your current level of progression. I learnt a lot, caught some amazing waves and had a lot of fun in the process!

5.00I took 3 days of lessons with Guillermo and I don’t regret it for a minute. He’s very experienced and knows exactly how to help you improve. Watch out for the crazy jokes, you never know when they might actually be true ;) I’ll be back for sure! Thank you Guillermo for pushing me out of my comfort zone!

5.00Guillermo is the very best. I've taken a number of surf lessons before with little success, so when my girlfriend and I booked three lessons together I didn't have big expectations. Guillermo was so great that I ended up booking three more lessons, including two one-one-one sessions. With Guillermo I made a ton of progress and left confident enough to ride more challenging waves than I had before. He's also a wonderful person to spend time with – we miss you Guillermo!
No one else like Guillermo!!

5.00My boyfriend and I were in Montezuma for 2 weeks and had originally planned on just 3 lessons with Guillermo, but I myself ended up taking about 8. Besides Guillermo being such a fun and attentive instructor, he truly was just as passionate about the physical guidance as he was the mental guidance for surfing. I could tell he was different from other instructors after day 2 being out in the ocean and seeing others not under Guillermo’s wing. This was my first time surfing, so I took more lessons than my boyfriend - but him and Guillermo would go out to the point break together (despite my jealousy, but listening to Guillermo who said I wasn’t ready and was very right ha). If you take lessons with Guillermo you will forever have his voice in your head instructing you on “the art of surfing”. We were a month in Costa Rica and surfing with Guillermo was truly a highlight of our trip and we miss him dearly already. I honestly believe there’s not another instructor like him, he’s the best of the best if you are looking to truly learn surfing. Him and his wife who run the business are so professional, great communication and charming! Already trying to plan a trip back to surf with Guillermo!
