  We had an absolutely awesome experience in Ishigaki, thanks to Makoto and Taran. It really felt like exploring the island with friends. Everything went calm and smooth - that’s the way how we like to travel. Best tour guides ever! Makoto became a friend of us :)

  I had the pleasure of taking this tour with Makoto, and it was an outstanding experience. She is not only an excellent and friendly guide, but also went above and beyond to ensure I visited all the main attractions. She is also an amazing photographer! Communication before the tour was seamless - they asked about my interests in advance and created a personalised itinerary tailored perfectly to what I wanted to see. Highly recommended! I’d do it again if I could!

  I would like to give a resounding 5/5 star review to Makoto for hosting us and being such a wonderful private tour guide! We were passengers on a Royal Carribean cruise that docked at the beautiful island of Ishigaki for a day. We did not want to join the typical cruise arranged group tour to jostle with the crowd and were looking for a private tour instead. To our pleasant surprised, we came across this tour at a much more affordable rate and had a pleasant stress free and intimate time as a family whilst staying clear of large tour groups. Prior to our trip, Makoto reached out to me to discuss the places we could visit and things to do in 5 hours given our family needs. Makoto arranged for a child seat for my toddler and took into consideration the appropriateness of the attractions we visited for my child. We were picked up and dropped off right at the cruise port terminal with minimal hassle. It was raining when we disembarked, Makoto was ready waiting for us with umbrellas to shelter us to her car. Thank you! We first visited the Ishigaki limestone cave. The entrance fees were covered and we had a pleasant time exploring the beautiful caves. We visited the Yaima village and learnt a lot about the culture and living conditions of the early island dwellers. To our pleasant surprise, there were several animals too! We had the most fun with the squirrel monkeys in which my child thoroughly enjoyed. They were so cute and friendly to humans. We also visited the beautiful Kabira Bay and Oganzaki Lighthouse and were marveled by their spectacular views and natural beauty. Certainly not to be missed! We also had a special request to look at some unique pottery and crockery unique to Ishigaki (or Japan) for our new home. This was not part of the typical tour package offerings. However, Makoto was so kind to bring us to this beautiful place called Ishigaki-yaki pottery studio. We were in awe and blown away by the unique Ishigaki blue they intricately incorporated in their pottery. It is world-renowned and we could not resist and purchased several tea cups to bring home as souvenirs. For food offerings, Makoto also ensured we tasted the best and unique offerings Ishigaki had to offer. We had lunch at 公園茶屋 at Kabira Bay. They served up very authentic delicious Okinawa meat soba soup noodles. It was an incredibly satisfying and heart warming meal perfect for the cool weather. The experience was very authentic too as we dined in a tatami setting. Makoto also brought us to taste the delicious Ishigaki beef served as sushi. It was absolutely delicious and the meat was just so fresh, tender and packed with beefy umami. Throughout the entire tour, Makoto would whip out her camera and help us to take beautiful family and candid photos of us. She has a professional photographic eye in capturing shots at captivating angles and even did some editing to spruce up the photos. We simply love the photos so much that they are now our wallpaper and display profiles pictures. Throughout the tour, Makoto was very warm, hospitable and simply easy to talk to. We learnt a lot about the local life on Ishigaki and the wider Okinawan culture. We thoroughly enjoyed ourselves and were very comfortable with every aspect of this tour.   WOW! What a great private tour. Taran is excellent guide and in addition to that he is a professional photographer . He takes pictures along the way and then sends them to you later that day, free of charge. Very few taxi drivers speak English so it is nice to have an English speaking guide. Taran picked great spots for our tour and I think we saw about 6-7 different points of interest in 5 hours. All fees for attractions were covered . Highly recommend Taran

  Taran, was Very knowledgeable about Ishigaki. Personable and was interested in knowing if you wanted to visit other places. Suggested places to try out some local foods. Really enjoyed my conversations with him and looking forward to seeing the awesome photos he took of me and my mom! Thank you again!!!

  It was amazing day at the beatiful island in the company of Taran and Makoto. They have lived for a few years on Ishigaki island by now, so they know all the places that worth visiting and what is important - can plan the timing for your trip properly depending on your time on the island to make sure you see the most interesting (for you) places. Whether you want to visit the best bakery with tastiest hot dogs and rolls or want to try local donuts or visit pineapple garden and try it, or want to visit the funny sculpture park or cave or meet charming squirrel monkey in the authentic village, they will plan it the best way. Not to mention the viewpoints where you stop to see the beautiful scenery and the pictures that Taran makes are fantastic

  Fabulous tour with Taran & Makoto. Super friendly & engaged. Sharing their knowledge about Ishigaki's culture, history, lore & legends. We saw crested serpent eagles, hiked mountains, nearly got blown over at Oganzaki lighthouse for the perfect photo shoot, sampled Sata Andagi and had many hours of fun with them.   We had a fabulous day with Taran. He showed all the key highlights of the island and we had some great conversations as we got to know him and learn about living in Ishigaki.
