As my tour is in a small groups, I'll give you a local experience and I'm able to make slight changes of how we spent the day regarding duration of snorkling, beach time ect. of course if the whole group agrees.
Once we will start our tour with a boat ride, I will show you the beautiful coast line of the area. We will visit the rock called Arco Iris (Rainbow Rock) and then we will go to the group of Islands called Morteros for some snorkeling.
Changing the snorkeling mask for the sunglasses again, we go to the island itself, where you can enjoy a swim in the warm waters, stroll along the sugary white sand beach, walk along the path to the top of the island or relax in the shade of a palm tree. Here we will serve you some fresh fruits and drinks.

We will start our day from Playa 'Los Órganos' in Paquera at 9am to 2.30pm or 12pm to 4pm, with a pleasant boat ride of approximately 20 minutes. On the way to Tortuga Island, you will enjoy the beautiful coast along with some marine life. We will pass Playa Quesera, then going with the boat through the hole in the rock called Arco Iris. After this we will go to the group of Islands called Morteros for snorkeling. The volcanic rock reef is surrounded by crystal clear waters and is famous for the large number of goldfish and some corals. On the Pacific coast of Costa Rica there are not many hard corals, but many fish and shellfish that keep their attention. You can see, for example, angelfish, porcupine, morays, needle fish, spotted eagle rays and many more tropical beauties that will make it a great snorkeling experience. Changing the snorkeling mask for the sunglasses again, we go to the island itself, where we will visit Playa Tropical, where you can enjoy a swim in the warm waters, stroll along the sugary white sand beach, walk along the path to the top of the island or relax in the shade of a palm tree swaying. Here we will serve you some fresh fruits and drinks.

4.00This was not a fancy tour like some of the others we saw, but it had everything we needed and we really liked that it was a small group. The guides were minimal in their chatting/instruction, but provided lookout spots, where to snorkel and some fruit and sandwiches at the beach (which was fantastic, private, no one else there, as opposed to the other, more commercial one that was pumping out loud music). Everything was left to our timing, so we weren't rushed in our snorkeling or beach time, which was nice. Altogether recommend this one.

5.00We have been in Costa Rica for 11 days and this tour took the cake. It was so good! Both my husband and I agree, it was the best tour thus far. The guide was very friendly. The snorkeling was great with a ton of different fish in all sorts of colors. They took us to a secluded beach on the island and we had the place to ourselves basically for a few hours. We saw sea turtles, island pigs and deer, sea birds and hermit crabs. Then on the way back to the mainland, we found a pod of dolphins and the guide circled around so we could get the best show as they swam along with the boat. I am still floored by the whole event.

5.00Communication before the trip was excellent. We met on the beach by El Gecko’s meeting point. Directions were accurate. Then we took a very enjoyable, scenic boat ride to the snorkeling location. Snorkeling was very nice. plenty of fish to make the 45 minute experience worth it. There were only 7 of use and it was quite lovely to be in such a small group. Maybe 30 minutes after we had arrived a very large group of snorkelers (maybe 20 or 30) descended upon us and I was glad we at least had 30 minutes to ourselves. After, the guides took us to an isolated, quiet beach and served us delicious fruit. But wait - that wasn’t all. I totally did t expect the lunch that came 1 hour later. Which came with home-made salsa that was truly yummy! We had the beach to ourselves for about 3 hours and besides getting in another swim we saw reptiles, monkeys and deer. It was the perfect, Puta Vida day.

5.00It was an amazing experience! We ended up being the only people on the tour, so we got a private tour of the islands, and were able to have a lot of time for snorkelling and relaxing on Isla Tortuga! They provided drinks, a sandwich, chips, and lots of fresh fruit! It was all delicious and so much food! The snorkelling spot was really clear and we saw so many different fish. The beach was big and beautiful, and we had so much time to relax and explore. We saw lots of birds, monkeys, and crabs on the beach. We saw other tour boats that all seemed packed and rushed compared to ours. The guides were all really nice and informative!
We were the only ones on this beach on Tortuga island!

5.00I definitely recommend going with them. The snorkeling part was around a rock, very crowded area with other boats, and there were a lot of fish but we were all really close to each other. Snorkeling equipment was provided but unisize, so I suggest bringing your own if you have it. Then we went to a beach which was right next to the really crowded one, but not reachable on foot, and we were only ones there! Obviously no services (no toilets, no bar), there was just a table and gazebo where we had snacks, fruits and then the sandwich for lunch. We were free to explore all the beach which was beautiful, quite big and had quite some time to relax. I suggest to bring water shoes if you have delicate feet like me.
An absolute gem in Paquera. Must do!!

5.00What a perfect tour. They were able to add me (solo traveler) with a group. Gill took me to the smaller private beach which was totally empty. I saw a whale, a turtle, starfish and couldn't count all the fish i saw snorkeling. (Gill helped me find the good spots) We took a leisurely ride all around the islands with opportunities to take a dip at any point. A dreamy day on a white beach surrounded by wildlife. What a fantastic find. Thank you El Gecko team.

5.00This is a FANTASTIC tour! I highly recommend. It's a small group tour, which is a wonderful way to truly experience the amazing natural environment of Costa Rica. You go to a smaller beach away from the BIG crowds on the island. Our guides Alex and Gil, took great care of us and taught us about the animals and marine life we saw. They were even kind enough to let my son try some fishing on the boat ride home - thank-you! We also enjoyed the fresh fruit, drinks and sandwich on the beach. That was totally unexpected and very welcome. I highly recommend supporting local tour operators!

5.00Great option for visiting Isla Tortuga from Paqueras. It’s a quick ride out and lunch is served on a calmer beach than where most tours stop. It was also nice to have a 5 hour option.
