My climbing partner and I got turned around on Island Peak at Crampon Point a decade ago following an EBC trek, so when we had the opportunity to visit Nepal again, we began to line up our ducks in a row for a reattempt on Island Peak starting with different guide service. I reached out to several companies and found Sujan at Ace the Himalaya to be the most responsive. Since we were scheduling a dedicated Island Peak trek and had social commitments in KTM following the climb, we had many inquiries and requests for Sujan. He was always timely, patient and responsive, with some of our email threads having over 50 messages. We were able to get the details we wanted including a private expedition, extra climbing guide, helicopter transport and summit attempt from high camp, all at a very reasonable price. We were met in KTM by our trekking guide Nimesh Nepal, quiet and competent as we navigated our way into Thamel as well as our morning flight to Lukla. In the Solukhumbu, his knowledge of geography, culture, and logistics kept the hike interesting and topical. Because we were laser-focused on making it to Island Peak healthy, Nimesh was very flexible with our early dinner and early departure schedule to minimize our exposure to other trekkers. Nimesh expertly coordinated with our two porters, Sukra and Vishal, who were strong, fast, polite and endlessly patient with us. We found communication with Nimesh clear, non-judgemental, organized and with great attention to detail, a contrast to our previous EBC/IP trek. We always knew with Nimesh what the next night's teahouse would be like and what some of the better menu items were there. We alway had a good idea about the day's hike profile and villages along the way. In Island Peak Base Camp, Nimesh worked with Pemba, our climbing guide, to expertly arrange our lodging, nutrition and training before moving up to High Camp. In a damp and shaded spot at 5600m, Pemba attended to food and hot water so we could conserve heat and energy ahead of the climb. We were fortunate to have Nimesh join us on Summit day, coming up with the second climbing guide, Urken. Pemba and Urken worked together seamlessly as a team to keep us safe on the climb up. We were met on the summit by the view of an avalanche off the Lhotse Shar face. It was a brilliant day, with panoramic views of beautiful Himalayan peaks. The team was equally efficient and competent in getting us safely back to High Camp and Base Camp to pack up our kit. We thanked our climbing guides and started the long hike back to Chukkung. Taking a helicopter from Dingboche to Lukla and from Lukla to KTM, so we could make our friends' wedding celebration, we were able to complete this approach/climb in eleven days! We always felt organized and secure on this trip and believe it has to do with the special people at Ace, from Sujan to the porters and climbing guides. In particular, if you have the opportunity to trek (or climb) with Nimesh Nepal at Ace, you will have an excellent, informed and organized experience with a very seasoned and special guide who loves to share his country with his trekking clients.

Island Peak has been on my "to do" list for over 30 years. 8 years ago I was turned back at crampon point due to illness. Also, at the time, my climbing partner and I both felt a bit under "guided". This year could not be more different. Ace (Sujan) took the lead on prepping us for a successful summit months before we arrived in Nepal. Once we arrived, Ace was there every step of the way Airport Arrival to Airport Departure. We never had to guess at what was next, or what was coming. And on summit day, we felt completely prepared for the climb. Nimesh was a wonderful trekking guide. I would trek with him again without a doubt. He was quite knowledgeable about most topics we brought up with him. He was very attentive to our diets and health and it was particularly exciting to have him join us on summit day. Our porters Vishal and Sukra were extremely kind and professional. We could not have made the trip without them. On summit day we had two guides. Pemba oversaw our training day and also supported our nightover at high camp. He and the other climbing guide also made sure that our safety was a priority at all times. Thank you again Ace for all your support. Will definitely be knocking at your door if and when I make it back to the high peaks of the Himalayas! Paul

This was my second time working with Ace...my first time was in 2022 for the EBC Trek. In my review then I showered praise on the company, and I'm glad to see that in the preceding years they've maintained that level of excellence. They proved yet again how adaptable they are, as I signed up to do Island Peak late season with very little lead up, and they put the plan together with the odd timing I gave them. I ended up being alone for this, no group. Despite that, they treated my trip the same as if it were a full group...no concessions were made to the quality of accommodations of the trek. I had three people directly responsible for me: Porter: Dileep Climbing Guide: Pemba Head Guide: Rajan All three were wonderful. Dileep was always there to help ease my transitions, take on more of the load when needed, and share a laugh with. Pemba kept me safe on Island Peak itself, making sure I made it on and off the mountain intact. Rajan was a wonderful lead, sharing deep conversations and keeping me locked in a perfect pace. He made absolutely certain that things went as smoothly as possible, and his experience as a guide comes through clearly. Truly an honor to have met and worked with these gentlemen...they made the trip something I'll remember forever. Side note worth mentioning...I came during my birthday, but didn't tell them that specifically. It was noticed, and they surprised me with a cake that evening. It was a genuinely nice extra touch, and speaks to the attention to detail these guys have.

I chose ACE based upon research I did prior to booking...and I am very glad that I booked with them!! From interactions with the office all the way through to staff on the ground, technical support (climbing guides) and especially the guide, Milan Adhikari, were superb, responsible, and professional individuals. If you are of a mind to book an adventure trip for yourself do not hesitate to book with ACE! Is your trip going to be hard at times? Well...yes. But isn't that part of the reason you're considering this? I suspect so. With ACE, all you have to do is show up and put in the physical effort. ACE will take care of the rest. Food, accommodations, transportation, and especially cultural awareness...handled! During my adventure, accommodations exceeded my expectations. If you remember that you're in remote Nepal...you will not be disappointed. Is everything 5 star? For being 15,000 feet up in the mountains...the teahouse rooms are great! The food was great and there was lots of it! You get to select every meal from a wide variety of items on the menu. The porters, Lochlan and Deepak, made sure that my gear was delivered timely and safely. My climbing sirdar and his assistant, Pemba Kiter Sherpa and Udek Diki Sherpa, were awesome. They made me feel well cared for and assured at 6189 meters...and they were super friendly to boot! I previously mentioned the main guide, Milan, but I wanted to close by once again pointing out how great he has been. He has proven to be a wonderful teacher with everything Nepal. He's intelligent and curious. He kept me informed every step of the way on my adventure. He's more than just a guide. I'm very pleased to consider him my friend. Don't hesitate. Book a fun, exhilarating, challenging, and exhausting trip with ACE! Best Regards, Christy

Had an amazing experience with the ACE the Himalaya team. They made sure to make the entire experience stress free and allowed me to focus fully on hiking and climbing. Their team works like a well oil machine that is able to tackle any issue such as bad weather affecting flight schedules to Lukla. The guide for the hike component, Milan, was extremely knowledgeable and created a great environment with the team. The climb guides Pemba & Udek were amazing and always made sure to keep us safe throughout the entire climb. Ace's team of Porters made sure to always have our belongings delivered between tea houses seamlessly. Special thanks to Deepak and Lochan, the best Porters. If you have a chance, make sure to ask for this particular team for your island peak expedition.

This was a phenomenal trip organized by an incredible company. There are so many options of companies for trekking in Nepal, and I am extremely happy that I decided to go with Ace. They were extremely responsive since I first contacted them and attended to all my needs and questions. During the trip everything was organized to perfection and allowed me to only have to worry on my trekking and climbing. I felt very safe and taken care of during the trip. A special mention to our guides Pemba Kiter Sherpa, Milan Adhikari, Udek Diki Sherpa and our porters Lochan and Deepak who made the trip possible. If I ever come back to Nepal I will not hesitate to book my trip through Ace. Thank you for this phenomenal experience.

When we arrived in Kathmandu, we had a briefing telling us what to expect in our upcoming trip. Very well explained. Madan was our guide for our adventure. He was good to check with us daily to make sure everyone was feeling well. He was organized and did a great job of looking after us. Our porters worked extremely hard and were always good to make sure our belongings were at the accommodations before we got there. Suman was also a guide and did a great job of leading the way. I decided that I didn’t want to spend the three days hiking out so I asked Madan to arrange a helicopter. He made a phone call and it was done. The day of the summit, we had 1000 m to climb. Pippy was my guide for this part of the trek. He was awesome. I found the last part of the thousand metres to be challenging. Technical and Harder than I was anticipating. But with his encouragement, I was able to make it to the top. I travelled with a great group of guys and the scenery was amazing. It was the trip of a lifetime and provided me with memories that I will have forever.

This company receives my highest commendation. I’ve trekked in India, Colombia, Bolivia and Ecuador - this Nepal experience surpassed them all. Ace’s planning, execution and attention to detail/safety was impeccable. If you get the chance to request guides, Madan (chief guide) and Sauman (assistant) will not disappoint.
