Fort Augustus
Leaving Skye, we travel along dramatic Glen Shiel and the stunning 5 sisters of Kintail. We continue to Loch Ness with all its mystery and although sightings of “Nessie” are rare, you just never know… A boat trip on Loch Ness, from the village Fort Augustus on the shore of Loch Ness is always a great option to experience the expanse of Scotlands deepest body of water. in the afternoon we pass Loch Laggan and into the Cairngorms National Park before gradually starting to head south and Highland Perthshire awaits, Highland Perthshire was a much favoured tourist destination for the Victorian traveller and even Queen Victoria herself fell in love with Scotland in this beautiful part of our country.

We could not have had a better experience on our tour of Skye! Yes, the scenery is incomparable, the history fascinating and the natural history amazing, but what really made the day so special was Sandy's superb guiding. He was deeply knowledgeable yet so welcoming and kind. He went out of his way to show us a couple of places of special interest to us. It's rare to encounter someone so expert yet so sincere and kind. We'll never forget that day and will look for another chance to take a Scottish Guided Tour.

Our family had an amazing time experiencing Scotland with Scottish Guided Tours. Our tour guide, Alan, was kind, funny, entertaining, and incredibly knowledgeable about the history, architecture, local stories/myths, music, etc. in all the locations we visited. Alan was fantastic at tailoring the stops/activities, meals, etc. to our preferences/interests, and he helped us make informed decisions about what to prioritize (or not) during our trip. I would highly recommend Scottish Guided Tours (and Alan!) if you are traveling to the area.

Cannot recommend them enough. Alan was our guide and did a tremendous job showing us this beautiful country. Niall set us up with a great itinerary, which we could modify if we wanted to, and Alan gave us the tour. He was patient and flexible with the seven of us not always being on time for everything! He knew so much history and many stories.

My sister and I took this tour recently and really enjoyed it. Murdoch was our guide and his knowledge of the area, the history, an his story telling along the way made it the best tour I’ve had in a long time. I especially loved the story of his travel companion.

Visiting Scotland for the 2nd time and we wanted to do a more structured and informative tour for Isle of Skye and the Highlands. We chose Scottish Guided Tours and we could not have been happier with our choice. Sandy was our guide for the day and we can't say enough great things about him and our tour. He was early for pick up which we were happy about as we had backpacks to sort and there were 5 of us,so lots of fussing around which Sandy handled with good cheer and laughs. Sandy was friendly, funny, informative and had lots of facts and tales along our route, with plenty of laughs thrown in. We saw so much and enjoyed every minute. And if we have an opportunity again we will definitely book with this company and request Sandy!! Thanks again guys for a wonderful and truly Scottish experience. Charlotte

We just returned back from an Amazing trip to the Highlands of Scotland with Scottish Guided Tours! We reached out to Scottish Guided Tours to see if they had an availability for the first week in September 2025 and right away Niall contacted us and set up a zoom call the next day to discuss what we would like to visit in the Highlands. The day after our call, Niall had put together a wonderful itinerary with a detail of every days sites we going to see and provided us with recommendations for hotels. Niall and Kyle also made all the dinner reservations for us to coincide with our arrival back to the towns we were staying at for the night. They also made ferry and even whiskey tasting reservations for us. Our tour guide, Gill was fantastic!! She picked us up from our apartment in Edinburgh and our adventure began. We felt very fortunate to have been able to have her as our guide. She was extremely knowledgeable of the history of Scotland and provided us amazing stories and music along the way. But most of all she was so much fun! She even took us to some special places that were not scheduled like the cantilever ferry at Glenelg, Skye and the site of the first whiskey distillery, Lindores Abbey Distillery. All in all, it was a memorable week in the highlands and we can’t thank Niall, Gill and Kyle enough! We would not hesitate to book another trip with Scottish Guided Tours in the future. Lisa and Jim

Our 4-day tour to the Isle of Skye and Inverness with Scottish Guided Tours was lovely and memorable. Although the scenery alone is spectacular, our guide Andrew made the places we saw come alive. He was fun, engaging, and very knowledgeable about Scottish history, folklore, and archaeological sites. His descriptions and insights made them much more meaningful. Early on, he recognized our specific interests and tailored the itinerary accordingly. We were a two-generation family group of 7 women, and he was very accommodating about planning activities around our individual abilities. He also planned unique experiences off the beaten path that I don’t think we would have gotten on a standard itinerary. He took us to some amazing small local businesses for lunches, with delicious food. (SGT also arranged dinner reservations for us, which was extremely helpful, especially for a large group.) Andrew and SGT truly made this the trip of a lifetime!

When we first starting looking into going to go to Scotland 10 months ago we contacted a number of different tour companies. Niall and Kylie from Scottish Guided Tours were the best. They responded to all of our emails in a timely manner. We had some adjustments that needed to be made from our itinerary and they were extremely helpful. Alan, our driver for the trip was amazing. He was very accommodating to any adjustments we needed to make. There were a couple of places we wanted to try and see and he said that he would make it work. His stories about the history of Scotland were very informative. Alan and the whole team at Scottish Guided Tours made our trip a truly memorable experience. I would highly recommend them.

Could not be happier with the memories made during this three day experience of Scotland at its finest. We were daring enough to take both sets of our parents for a triple date exploring Scotland from stem to stern. We did not know that we would be guided by a legendary, passionate historian who was also attentive to the various needs of his passengers. There are too many literal high points to highlight — here I will say one of my favorite parts was Stuart’s on site explanation Culloden. We roamed the battle field on a bright, windy morning and I will never forget how Stuart brought the violent scene to light. At the conclusion of our tour we all felt sincerely enlightened and wishing for more of Scotland. Thank you, Scottish Guided Tours!

What a wonderful company! Excellent, family-owned operation—organized and responsive from the first contact. Collin guided us for four days on the Isle of Skye and was outstanding: he found out what we cared about (scenery, quieter spots, and history) and built each day around it. Smart routes, a great mix of must-see sights and lesser-known stops, flexible timing, and engaging commentary. Personable and a gifted storyteller, he made Scotland’s beauty and history come alive. The experience felt truly tailored to us and exceeded expectations. We’d book again without hesitation.
