You'll have the chance to meet our reindeer and learn about their yearly cycle and the traditions of reindeer herding. The experience includes a delicious, creamy reindeer meat soup prepared by us, served in a cozy and traditional Sámi hut. Here, you can warm up by the fire and enjoy the soup alongside homemade hot berry juice while waiting for the northern lights to appear. While the aurora is a natural phenomenon and cannot be guaranteed, you’ll still have the opportunity to get up close with the reindeer, immerse yourself in Sámi culture, and try your hand at "suopunki" throwing – the traditional lasso technique used to catch reindeer. The activity is located about 1 kilometer from Ivalo Airport and 10 kilometers from the center of Ivalo, from where transport can be arranged (max. eight people). Transportation can be arranged also from Saariselkä or Inari for additional fee 45 € / person. If you need transportation from Saariselkä or Inari, please contact us in advance.

The setting is just magical... soup in a kotta in front of the fire all surrounded by young reindeer and feeding them. I was lucky enough to see the Northern Lights the day I went there. Activity a little expensive but no regrets

This was a great experience, we really enjoyed the time spent with Johanna and her partner at the reindeer farm. They were very friendly and personable. We learned a lot about lapland and reindeer herding. The locally sourced dinner which was prepared for us was absolutely delicious. They have many reindeer on their property. The reindeer are not quite used to being around people, but are willing to come close the be fed. We did learn though with more exposure they may become more comfortable with people. I would recommend booking this tour if you are visiting Ivalo.
