You'll be collected in a private vehicle for the 1.5 hour trip to Iximche. There, our local guide will explain the lifestyle of the Mayans while you explore the museum and grounds. Perhaps you'll even see a Mayan spiritual ceremony. This site was the first Spanish capital of Guatemala and you'll learn about the lifestyle of the people who lived there. It is a post-classic site established in 1465 and offers a beautiful day out. The full experience is 5-6 hours round-trip.

You will be brought direct to the archaeological site for a private tour. Here we will have a local guide with Mayan heritage explain everything we see in the museum at this national park. This site was the first Spanish capital of Guatemala and its beautiful park-like setting is a must-see to learn about the lifestyle of the Mayan governors. There is also a good chance you may catch a Mayan spiritual ceremony taking place on these sacred grounds! The tour takes around 1.5 hours total.

Very nice experience… The actual tour is a little light and the overall price seems to be inflated in comparison with other, much longer and more intense tours we took. It is also weird that the entrance fee is not included. Not the point of money, just an inconvenience.

Overall, it was a successful tour. I decided to go on a Spanish speaking tour to practice speaking Spanish. It’s a one hour car ride and I feel like I really learned a lot. The people were really nice. I ended up having an English speaking tour once we got there and the other two women were also very nice. The tour was good and I learned a lot. The guides were very helpful but the tour was not as multidimensional as the type of tours that go to three or so places in a day. It was interesting to learn about the Maya civilization of many years ago. Historical buffs were especially like this tour.

Must-see from Antigua if you have any interest in Mayan culture. Well preserved grounds. Fascinating story. Jun, our guide, was superb. Highly recommended.

We had an excellent guide! He was extremely knowledgeable and as a person who identified as Mayan, we felt that he brought a great personal perspective to the visit. The tour was timed right given the size of the site.

This was absolutely amazing. When we first got there we had the whole place to ourselves. Such history and culture and Melvin was absolutely the highlight of the adventure. His knowledge was amazing. Eric was a great driver and navigated the roads amazingly. Was comfortable and not as intimidating as it could have been.

It was a smooth transaction from start to finish. The driver picked me up on time. It was so well-coordinated that all I had to do was enjoy the tour, which I very much did because the tour guide was excellent and so knowledgeable. I had so many questions and he was able to answer them all so passionately while providing the source of the information. Highly recommended!

This was one of my favorite parts of our trip to Guatemala! Our tour guide was so knowledgeable about the history and how it impacts people in the area today. He also shared with us his passion for giving back to his community, which was so inspiring! Our driver was also so kind, he told us about some interesting places as we drove to Tekal, and he waited for us as long as we wanted to continue checking out the grounds or the museum until we were ready to go. We loved the immersive experience of the ruins, the museum, and getting to see a traditional ceremony.

A great chance to see some historical ruins and get real context on the history. Our tour guide Melvin was knowledgeable and personable. He really enhanced our enjoyment of the ruins. Our driver Byron was also great and gave us some extra context on the rides there and back. Would recommend. It's worth noting that the tour operator texted through WhatsApp to let us know about pickup info, so make sure you have it installed.
