Walking tour with a local Prague resident, an independent private guide (holder of an MA in Religious Studies and a PhD in Sociology who still works as an ethnographer researcher in addition to guiding). For the usual price, I offer a deep interest and knowledge of the tour subject, a personal approach, an interesting interpretation and a little something extra.
2024 will be the 100th anniversary of the death of Franz Kafka, one of the most important writers of the 20th century and a world-famous Prague resident. On the occasion of this anniversary, I would like to offer you a walking tour in Kafka's footsteps. Because "Franz Kafka was Prague and Prague was Franz Kafka". Come with me to explore this deep and intimate connection between the man and the city.

We enter the world of Franz Kafka, an important writer of the 20th century and a famous Prague native, at the place where he was born in 1883. The house where Franz Kafka was born has long since been demolished, but Kafka's birth is commemorated by a RELIEF by KAREL HLADIK on the façade of No. 3. This is where we will start our tour.
Kafka spent part of his childhood in the HOUSE AT THE MINUTE in the Old Town and experienced many formative events that influenced his life and writing. It was here that he first went to school and where his sisters were born. ..... The Renaissance sgraffito on the façade of the house and the stone lion symbol are distinctive features of the house.

5.00Today Radek was my guide on the tour “Essentials of Franz Kafka's Prague”. To be honest, although for many years I’ve been curious about Kafka and his life and writing before today, I knew very little about it. After this tour, I feel I have a good sense of what Kafka's life in Prague was like, who his family and nearest friends were and how they might have affected him as a person and as a writer. Also, I had hoped for an introduction to the old Prague and I can only say, this tour did that too. I very much enjoyed how Radek had hand-picked quotes from Kafka's writing often where Kafka commented on the different locations we stopped at. Moreover, Radek showed pictures of how the buildings looked then, as opposed to what was in front of us today. After this tour, I not only feel very informed about the person and the writer Franz Kafka, I also feel I have a better understanding of what old Prague looked and felt like back then. Thank you to Radek for a very informative morning and for letting me in on the essentials of the Prague of Franz Kafka. Radek is generous, knowledgeable and kind. I highly recommend his tour.

5.00What an interesting tour :). We got to know Franz Kafka not only as a writer but also as a person. We learned a lot, the guide was friendly, the tour was fun. We ended the tour in Café Louvre, Kafka's favourite café. Excellent. Thanks and highly recommended 🙂

5.00We really enjoyed walking around the places in Prague associated with Franz Kafka's life. We saw the places where he lived, worked and created (I already know where he wrote The Metamorphosis and The Castle) as well as the monuments to Kafka, including the giant rotating Kafka head. We visited Kafka's favourite café with its unique atmosphere and had coffee there. Our guide Radek knew a lot about Kafka and Prague, and the tour was both fun and educational. I recommend it to everyone, Kafka readers and those who would like to get to know him.
