Keita was an absolutely fantastic guide. He was very knowledgeable, spoke very clearly and was easy to understand. He was very funny and really connected with our group and shared information which he thought we would like to hear. I would highly recommend Keita as a tour guide!

What a wonderful treat it was to walk around Kanasawa with YASUSHI! He was our private guide for an afternoon and I will never visit a garden again without thinking about what he taught us. As a former teacher he is very good at explaining things. We got a crash course in Japanese history and also had a chance to discuss recent developments. and ask whatever we wanted. Yasushi is flexible and adapts his tours to your interests.

We booked a private tour with guide Keita for Kanazawa city after we were with him on morning tour in Shirakawa-go. Keita is truly the best tour guide for this trip. He informed us about history and interesting spots along our way through Kanazawa Castle, Kerouen Garden and Geisha District. Definitely recommend this tour especially with him!

My family and I were only in Kanazawa for a couple days so we figured booking a private tour would be the best option. Our original private tour plans fell through and after doing some digging, I found that this tour with Yasushi-san was available. Upon first meeting Yasushi-san, he greeted us with such enthusiasm we felt immediately at ease. He went over the plan for the day and soon we were off. Throughout our day with Yasushi-san, we learned a lot about Kanazawa not only from an educational perspective but a personal one as well. Yasushi-san was born and raised in Kanazawa and you can immediately sense his utmost pride talking about this wonderful town. Our 4 hour tour with Yasushi-san went by so fast, and as a family we had so much fun. Yasushi-san is someone that my family and I will never forget and we are so thankful that we got to see experience Kanazawa from his perspective.

I love going on tours when I travel, so believe me when I say Yasushi-san guided me and my family on one of the best tours I’ve been on in my life. You can see how his background as a high school teacher has shaped his current career—his walking tour of Kanazawa was clearly deeply researched, but so practiced that we were engaged and learning without even realizing it. Yasushi-san has the rare skill of being able to thread the needle, so to speak—connecting big ideas on history, politics, and economics across disparate locations and topics to create a unified narrative of a single place. What he did was far beyond simply telling us relevant facts; we saw landmarks and famous sights of Kanazawa with a perspective and appreciation we simply wouldn’t have had without him around. And to top it all off, he’s an incredibly friendly guy who’s great with children and has a keen sense of where to take the best pictures (!). I honestly felt sorry for the folks we were around who weren’t being guided by Yasushi-san, haha. The four hours we spent with him went by without feeling rushed, feeling like a full day, and afterward I completely understood another reviewer who said they booked one tour with him and immediately booked another one on the same day when their first session ended. I strongly recommend anyone traveling to Kanazawa to book a tour with Yasushi-san. I know my family and I hope to come back to Japan and book another tour with him when we do.
