If you're visiting Kauai, you absolutely can't miss seeing the stunning NaPali Coast. We offer a one-of-a-kind experience to do just that. As a Native family-run company, we are very fortunate to have been right here at our shop for 200 years, gathering our family's documented history to share about the NaPali Coast. Our Captains and Crew would love to share their very own culture and history with you on our tours. You can choose from one of our four vessels for a more personal and comfortable 4.5 to 5-hour tour. Our vessels are just the right size to explore sea caves with comfort when the weather allows. We can't wait to have you on board!

LUNCH Please select your lunch options per person, we offer Ham, Turkey, Roast Beef, PB&J & Vegetarian. We can provide gluten-free bread if needed. Please inform us of any allergies within your group. Remember to send in your lunch order a week before your tour or at the latest, 24 hours before your tour. We'll default to Turkey sandwiches if we don't receive your lunch options. We also provide chips, soda, mixed juices, and water
AGE RESTRICTION Our age limit is age 4 years old and up on our larger vessels and age 9 and up on our smaller vessels.
PREGNANCY We make exceptions for pregnancies during our summer months only, ( June, July and August ) when the ocean conditions are calmer. Women who are expecting can participate in this tour up to 22 weeks gestation, along with their doctors approval. A doctor's note must be submitted by a doctor, directly to Makana Charters VIA email or fax and must be approved by management prior to booking a reservation. Please contact us to reserve once your note has been submitted.
DISABILITY For safety and liability reasons, we do not make any exceptions. We are not handicap accessible. If you feel that the individual can get on and off of the boat without any assistance, you may call the office to speak to someone directly.

Na Pali Coast State Wilderness Park
During our winter season, (late November to April) Our afternoon tours don’t offer snorkeling. We use that time for whale watching and sunset. Come join us for an amazing 5 hour snorkeling and lunch tour, on the breathtaking NaPali Coast together! This place holds immense historical significance and is home to a variety of sea life, including dolphins. Our Native family-owned co, has been a part of the Waimea community for 200 years, where we depart to the NaPali Coast, our families history is beyond imaginable from history books being the first to sail foreigners on our family's sailing double hulled sailing canoes to NaPali Coast by documented history. We're excited to share our rich history and heritage with you. Sharing their own stories and culture to create a truly memorable experience. Please choose from our four comfortable catamarans, which offer the same fantastic tour experience. Weather permitting, we'll explore multiple sea caves and snorkel in pristine waters.
Waimea Canyon State Park
Also known as the Grand Canyon of the Pacific, this scenic state park overlooks the colorful Waimea Canyon, which stretches over 14 miles and is more than 3,600 feet deep.

5.00We were able to see an abundance of wildlife on our way to the Na Pali coastline. Humpback whales with newborn calf’s, turtles, goats and monk seals, these guys provided a family memory that will last a lifetime.

5.00We went to see the Na Pali coastline, but we’re surprised with all the bonus wildlife. A new mother humpback with her calf, goats, sea turtles and a couple of monk seals. The overall trip was a winner for all members of our family.

5.00Our tour was amazing. The crew was very personable and engaging with the customers. They're very knowledgeable of the locations we went to. They covered the history and significance of several of the sites. We were extremely lucky to experience a bucket list moment when we encountered a mother humpback whale and her newborn calf of only a day or two old in the shallows and allowed us to stay close to her and her calf for 20 or 25 minutes. They even came toward the boat and were only 10 ft from the side of our boat as they headed out to deeper water. We also saw turtles on the beach and two turtles mating in the ocean. Truly an amazing experience.

5.00Boat and crew were great on the Amelia. The boat is layed out extremely well and comfortable. The Na Pali coast and caves are beautiful and a must see of kauai. Traveled with 10 and 7 year olds. Would recommend this tour!

5.00It was a great experience. Na Pali coastline is stunning. We had a chance to see the dolphins and whales on the way. The crew was great. The only downside was that snorkeling felt rushed specially when it’s one of the best places to snorkel and you can only get there by boat.

5.00We were lucky and had picture perfect afternoon weather with the sun bringing out all the colors along the coast. We were too early in rhe season for snorkeling but saw several whales, dolphins and a sea turtle along with nesting birds. Met all advertised expectations and the deckhands were good with the kids.

5.00Captain Mike and his crew provided an amazing experience touring the NaPali Coast on the Amelia K. The views of this primitive, and mostly inaccessible, coast from the sea were breathtaking. The crew's deep connections to the area, going back hundreds of years, really resonated in their storytelling. We spent a week cruising the Hawaiian Islands and this was by far our favorite adventure.

5.00We went on the afternoon boat tour April 7 on the Amelia K, with our boys age 9 and 11. It was our first time doing this type of excursion and it was so much fun with breathtaking views of the coast. Bonus seeing some dolphins, sea turtles, a humpback mom and baby, and a missile launch from the base. Kids had a blast being at the front of the boat catching waves. Captain Makana and his crew were super knowledgeable and experienced, they were very prepared to make sure everyone was safe and having a good time! We were too early for swimming and snorkeling (starts May 1st), so we will be back again! Happy to support a local family-owned business!

5.00Epic Fun Day! Amazing views and interesting history of the Volcano and valleys. The staff is very friendly & professional and tended to everyone’s needs. Yes We’d definitely recommend them. We saw several Pods of spinner dolphins and a mother whale and baby. Started out with rain and finished with a bright sunny day 😎
