If you're visiting Kauai, you absolutely can't miss seeing the stunning NaPali Coast. We offer a one-of-a-kind experience to do just that. As a Native family-run company, we are very fortunate to have been right here at our shop for 200 years, gathering our family's documented history to share about the NaPali Coast. Our Captains and Crew would love to share their very own culture and history with you on our tours. You can choose from one of our four vessels for a more personal and comfortable 4.5 to 5-hour tour. Our vessels are just the right size to explore sea caves with comfort when the weather allows. We can't wait to have you on board!

LUNCH Please select your lunch options per person, we offer Ham, Turkey, Roast Beef, PB&J & Vegetarian. We can provide gluten-free bread if needed. Please inform us of any allergies within your group. Remember to send in your lunch order a week before your tour or at the latest, 24 hours before your tour. We'll default to Turkey sandwiches if we don't receive your lunch options. We also provide chips, soda, mixed juices, and water
AGE RESTRICTION Our age limit is age 4 years old and up on our larger vessels and age 9 and up on our smaller vessels.
PREGNANCY We make exceptions for pregnancies during our summer months only, ( June, July and August ) when the ocean conditions are calmer. Women who are expecting can participate in this tour up to 22 weeks gestation, along with their doctors approval. A doctor's note must be submitted by a doctor, directly to Makana Charters VIA email or fax and must be approved by management prior to booking a reservation. Please contact us to reserve once your note has been submitted.
DISABILITY For safety and liability reasons, we do not make any exceptions. We are not handicap accessible. If you feel that the individual can get on and off of the boat without any assistance, you may call the office to speak to someone directly.

Na Pali Coast State Wilderness Park
During our winter season, (late November to April) Our afternoon tours don’t offer snorkeling. We use that time for whale watching and sunset. Come join us for an amazing 5 hour snorkeling and lunch tour, on the breathtaking NaPali Coast together! This place holds immense historical significance and is home to a variety of sea life, including dolphins. Our Native family-owned co, has been a part of the Waimea community for 200 years, where we depart to the NaPali Coast, our families history is beyond imaginable from history books being the first to sail foreigners on our family's sailing double hulled sailing canoes to NaPali Coast by documented history. We're excited to share our rich history and heritage with you. Sharing their own stories and culture to create a truly memorable experience. Please choose from our four comfortable catamarans, which offer the same fantastic tour experience. Weather permitting, we'll explore multiple sea caves and snorkel in pristine waters.
Waimea Canyon State Park
Also known as the Grand Canyon of the Pacific, this scenic state park overlooks the colorful Waimea Canyon, which stretches over 14 miles and is more than 3,600 feet deep.

5.00The most beautiful & fun experience we’ve had on Hawaii!! Our vacation started out very rough but Makana Charters turned our vacation around with one tour & completely erased all the bad we had endured!! 10000/10 recommend! We will never forget it! This adventure is something will be booking anytime we come back to Hawaii!

5.00We enjoyed our trip on the Amelia K. The Na Pali coast is gorgeous. I enjoyed the captain’s talk about the culture and history of the area. We saw a pod of at least 50 spinner dolphins. The crew made sure everyone was comfortable and had a chance to see the sights. As far as the snorkeling, it was cloudy so the conditions were not great. The strength of the trip is the coastal scenery and learning about the local customs and history . If your primary interest is snorkeling, this is not the trip for you. Also, the boat is very stable and as a person who has had motion sickness, I was fine and followed their instructions to prevent illness (Dramamine the night before and morning of, no coffee the morning of the trip)

5.00This was an amazing tour. We were a family six including a four and nine-year-old. The crew was absolutely amazing and the boat captain is a magician, getting us up real close and personal to the cliffs. We were able to go snorkeling and saw many beautiful tropical fish. It’s a must do if you visit Hawaii and I wouldn’t go with any other company. 10 out of 10 experience.

5.00We had a great trip with Makana Charters on the Amelia K. We saw a large group of spinner dolphins and saw the breath taking coast. Our kids enjoyed swimming and my oldest enjoyed jumping off the top of the boat. Our boat did have some mechanical issues that greatly shortened our trip/experience which was a bummer. We only made it they said about half way. The crew made the best of it and made us feel safe and some people in our group didn't even realize anything was wrong. All in all it was still a great experience even with missing half of the coast. I would recommend this company and if we come back would love to see the rest!

5.00We had a fantastic time yesterday on our Na pali coast boat tour. The catamaran size and captain handled the waves perfectly and the staff were so knowledgeable and entertaining, would definitely do this again!

5.00Amazing! 10/10 - We had 3 tour guides Makana, Ethan and Elijah who made this experience unforgettable. They were all very knowledgeable about the history of the island and had very good sense of humor that made the tour even more memorable. They pointed out a lot of cool things along the coast. We saw dolphins turtles and of course fish. The place we stopped and snorkeled at was beautiful. The water was warm and very clear so you could see the fish and reef. We saw a lot of waterfalls and some lava tubes. It was our first time seeing the Napali coast and it was truly breathtaking. Highly recommend booking with them. It was an incredible experience.

5.00Our family had an amazing experience with Makana Charters & Tours. Being one of the few Native Hawaiian-owned boat charters made the trip feel even more special, and we appreciated learning about the culture and history of Kauaʻi along the way. The snorkeling was fantastic, the lunch provided was just right for a day on the water, and the views were simply breathtaking. Seeing the Nā Pali Coast from the ocean gave us a completely different perspective than anything we experienced on land. The towering cliffs, sea caves, and crystal-clear water made for an unforgettable adventure and some incredible family memories. If you’re visiting Kauaʻi, this is an experience you shouldn’t miss.

5.00This was the second time my husband and I did this tour on the Amelia K, first time for our kids. The Captain and his crew were amazing, my family had a spectacular time. Highly recommend this adventure when visiting Kauai! The views are indescribable!
