We paddle with kayaks on the river Neckar, and see the Old Town, Marstall, Old Bridge and Hackteufel.

During the tour, the participants learn all paddling techniques to get to their destination safely and with lots of fun. Prepare to be surprised!

Kayak-Tour on the Neckar in Heidelberg See the city from a new perspective! A tour that has it all. It offers unforgettable moments in one of the most beautiful cities in the world. We explore Old Bridge, Castle, the waterfront and much more. And we get very close to the famous Hackteufel at the Neckar. We paddle in comfortable and very safe Solo- and Tandem-Kayaks on the Neckar. No experience in paddling required. The groups are small with a personal touch. The views to Old Town and Neuenheim, and Old Bridge and the castle are just top. And we are looking for the famous Hackteufel. Be prepared to be surprised. We start at a central location in Heidelberg in the old town part. First, there is a brief paddle technique instruction and we say a few words about safety. Then we start: We will glide the kayaks into the water and paddle up the river, along the Marstall, the old town, and beneath the Old Bridge. Then we cross the Neckar and drift with the current on the other side. Depending on the group, we paddle around 4 km. On the Neuenheim side we cross the Neckar again, and finish the tour at the same place.

We had a wonderful time on this tour. Ludgar and his son were friendly and very committed to making sure everyone on the tour had a good time. Most of the other participants spoke German but the Paddle Tour team was careful to translate the info they were sharing into English for us and to check that any questions we had were answered. We are experienced kayakers so appreciated that they were happy to reconfigure 2 of the boats so my husband and I could paddle individually. The view of the city from the water was really special and getting some exercise in was a bonus! Very glad we booked this trip.
Nothing but the best on the Nektar.

Great way to see the castle and experience Heidelberg from the water and get some exercise. Easy to get to and great activity for a solo traveller or if you are with a group.

We were a group of five coworkers (adults), and it was our first time to Germany. We had a private kayak tour, which worked out great for our group. Ludger was a fantastic guide providing historical facts and interesting stories about the city. He was helpful to those that were new to kayaking or haven’t kayaked in a long time. Navigating the water was easy because the water was so calm. Beautiful views of the city, the castle, and all the surrounding beauty. Setting up the tour was simple, and the meeting spot was easy to locate. We would highly recommend doing this if you’re in the area and looking for a fun activity to do!

Delightful to see Heidelberg from the water. Ludger made the experience exceptional and was patient to wait for me as I was the only solo kayaker on this tour (apart from him) and a lot slower. I enjoyed the experience.

This is a fabulous activity to do while staying in Heidelberg. It was lovely to kayak and see the beautiful views from the river. Ludger is an exceptional guide, explaining everything and making the inexperienced feel comfortable. Our whole group had a lot of fun. Thank you Ludger.

A challenging, but rewarding day on the water with a friendly and professional (and safety-oriented) guide. Would do again -- in the middle of Summer.

Never having tried anything like this before, I was a bit apprehensive but I really needn't have worried. Ludger explained everything in detail before we got into the kayaks and really put me at my ease. It was great fun and the views of Heidelberg from the river were fabulous. Ludger stopped several times to point out places of interest and included lots of anecdotes relating to the history of the town (in German and English). It was all very enjoyable and I would definitely do it again, although next time I would wear gloves as the oars rubbed the skin between my thumb and forefinger a little, but maybe that's just me!
