On the way to Kazbegi, we stop at the picturesque Zhinvali Water Reservoir, and then visit the Ananuri Castle on the Aragvi River. The castle was the scene of numerous battles and served as a shelter for the local population during the wars. Ananuri is considered one of the most beautiful historical monuments of Georgia.
At an altitude of 2200 meters above the sea level, on the southern side of the plateau of the Greater Caucasus Range, and near the Cross Pass, there is the Gudauri Ski resort.
The Panorama Gudauri is a monument to celebrate the friendship between Georgia and Russia.
Stepantsminda is a small town. The main attraction here is the Church of the Holy Trinity – the Gergeti Monastery that is located at an altitude of 2170 meters under the mountain pick of Kazbegi. Due to its location on the top of a steep mountain, surrounded by very harsh nature, the church became the symbol of preservation of the Georgian relics.

Zhinvali Water Reservoir
Jinvali Water Reservoir, also known as a lake, is located on the Georgian Military Highway. Soviets constructed the dam in the 1980s—a wonderful place to take amazing pictures.
Ananuri Fortified Castle Ensemble
Ananuri fortress dates to XVI-XVIII centuries and it is situated on the foreland by the river Aragvi. Ananuri was a castle and seat of the Eristavis (Dukes) of Aragvi, a feudal dynasty which ruled the area from the 13th century. The castle was the scene of numerous battles. This is a perfect place for landscape photography, there are amazingly beautiful views of the fortress and Jinvali reservoir together. The fortress remained in use until the beginning of the 19th century. In 2007, the complex has been on the tentative list for inclusion into the UNESCO World Heritage Site program.

2.00Don’t book this trip. It eats up all your day and you really don’t see much. It was extremely tiring driving back over 3.5 hours and driving is very dangerous!

4.00The trip was good and covered all the main spots. Lucca is a good guide, but I didn’t appreciate that he opened the tour by listing rules, it came across a bit abrupt. Most guides start with a warm introduction and weave the rules in naturally. But he was knowledgeable, and his clear English accent made everything easy to follow.

5.00This trip was so much fun. Shout out to Giorgi who was very friendly, helpful, fun & overall just a great person gave us so much information about the history of Georgia. Highly recommend this. But just know that if you go in October or November I highly recommend to cover up as much as possible because it gets very very cold.
Choose another tour operator. Better to go for a few days!

1.00Horrible driver, even for Georgian standards. Was constantly calling on his phone while driving through the Kazbegian high lands, which are somewhat narrow streets and dangerous. It says enough my Russian family members, who are used to "unorthodox" driving, felt scared and even sick after the drive. Guide was dissapointing too, as he didn't give anything interesting of information at all. Timing was really horrible. We spent 2 hours or so for lunch, but then only 30 minutes in Kazbegi. Why? It makes no sense. There wasn't even a stop included to take in the beautiful view of Gergeti Trinity Church. It costed extra to go up to the church as well with a little car.

5.00We had a great time on this tour! Our knowledgeable guide Nico took great care of us and explained everything in detail, we visited all the sites that are written on the tour, and we had a fabulous group of 17 people from all around the world. You have to pay extra for the jeep that take you up to the mountain 20 GEL per person, and lunch is extra also.
