Get ready to mark this off your bucket-list! Experience Churchill Downs Racetrack, the most well-known racing venue in the world. Kentucky Derby Museum includes daily historic walking tours, two levels of family-friendly interactive permanent & temporary exhibits, “The Greatest Race,” a 360-degree immersive sound and visual experience that’ll get your heart racing and emotions soaring, and a chance to meet the Museum's resident Thoroughbred and companion pony. You will also have access to the Gift Shop, Kentucky fare in the Derby Cafe, and much more!

Approximately .3 miles of walking is involved in the Guided Track Visit of Churchill Downs.
Wheelchair accessible: Free wheelchair rentals are available on a first-come, first-served basis upon request. You are welcome to bring your own manual wheelchair, motorized wheelchair or electric mobility scooter.
An induction loop is available for hearing impaired.
Tours are outdoors and will depart rain or shine. In the event of severe weather, the Museum will do its best to reschedule your tour experience.
On non-live racing days at Churchill Downs: Free Museum visitor parking in Red, White, & Black lots off Taylor Boulevard and Central Avenue in front of the Museum. On live racing dates at Churchill Downs: Free Museum visitor parking in Black, Green, Orange, Yellow, & Turquoise lots off Taylor Boulevard and Central Avenue in front of the Museum. The Red Lot closest to the Museum is available only on non-racing days. You may drop off guests in the round-a-bout in front of the Museum before parking.

5.00We concluded our tour of the Kentucky Horse Country with a visit to the Kentucky derby Museum. We began with a walk around the outside of historic Churchill Downs with its memorials to great Derby legends. The Museum contains exhibits about the horses, jockeys, trainers, owners and all involved with the Derby and its participants. A visit to the grandstand to see the track where the horses run is not to be missed. We did not stay for races but, perhaps on another trip. Our visit was thoroughly enjoyable and will help us better appreciate future Derby telecasts.

5.00Very detailed museum about the Kentucky Derby and it's rich history. You walk away with new knowledge of this historic event that happens every year. Cafe and Bourbon Bar are a must do during your visit.

5.00Not a big race fan and horses are definitely not my thing. That being said I truly enjoyed every aspect of the museum, and the guided tour was great and I learned a bunch. Tour guide and other workers were all very helpful and willing to take a minute with anyone that asked questions. Will definitely be watching the race next year with a new curiosity and wanting to learn more

5.00Enjoyed the Derby Museum so much! The teenagers even got into the race experience on the stationary horses! I think they will actually watch the Derby this May and tell everyone how cool the racetrack was when they visited!

5.00Very impressed with the history of this famous place. The museum is just outstanding and very impressive. Seems to go on forever. Plan to spend at least 3-4 hours there. Douglass was our tour guide and did an outstanding job on the tour and answering questions.

5.00I wanted to visit this site as I am a big sports fan and have been seeing the Derby every May for a few years now. The museum is very informative, and I was impressed by the video screen set-up. It's an oval screen with projections and lighting in the roof. Worth the visit, you only need like two hours and the staff if very helpful.

5.00Take your time and see the video and do the tour. Stay to see the races if they are running and you have time. The horses are beautiful.
