Get ready to mark this off your bucket-list! Experience Churchill Downs Racetrack, the most well-known racing venue in the world. Kentucky Derby Museum includes daily historic walking tours, two levels of family-friendly interactive permanent & temporary exhibits, “The Greatest Race,” a 360-degree immersive sound and visual experience that’ll get your heart racing and emotions soaring, and a chance to meet the Museum's resident Thoroughbred and companion pony. You will also have access to the Gift Shop, Kentucky fare in the Derby Cafe, and much more!

Approximately .3 miles of walking is involved in the Guided Track Visit of Churchill Downs.
Wheelchair accessible: Free wheelchair rentals are available on a first-come, first-served basis upon request. You are welcome to bring your own manual wheelchair, motorized wheelchair or electric mobility scooter.
An induction loop is available for hearing impaired.
Tours are outdoors and will depart rain or shine. In the event of severe weather, the Museum will do its best to reschedule your tour experience.
On non-live racing days at Churchill Downs: Free Museum visitor parking in Red, White, & Black lots off Taylor Boulevard and Central Avenue in front of the Museum. On live racing dates at Churchill Downs: Free Museum visitor parking in Black, Green, Orange, Yellow, & Turquoise lots off Taylor Boulevard and Central Avenue in front of the Museum. The Red Lot closest to the Museum is available only on non-racing days. You may drop off guests in the round-a-bout in front of the Museum before parking.

5.00Was easily one of my favorite parts of our trip to Louisville! You get to see and learn so much about the Kentucky Derby's history over the past 152+ years. The Barns & Backside tour was an amazing experience and I highly recommend booking tickets for it as you'll get to see the stables at Churchill Downs behind the scenes (and yes, that includes the horses). Our tour guide Candy was lovely! Admission to the museum is free the Sunday after the Derby, but the line to get in was very long (book the tour package if you want to skip the line).

5.00Great museum, even if you only have a passing interest in horses. The history is interesting, the film is very moving, the exhibits are professionally curated. We didn't get to see the track due to Derby cleanup, but it was still worth the money.

4.00What a neat museum learning about the Derby. You can definitely feel the energy and excitement of the sport when visiting. The only disappointment is that we couldn’t go outside to view the track because it was still closed to visitors post Derby weekend.

3.00Some of the attractions were not available because they were still cleaning up the venue after the big race. (The cafe was closed and Track Tours were cancelled for a few days.) This should have been communicated ahead of time. This experience was to be included but was not available.

3.00We never made it to the museum. Uber driver couldn’t find the drop off point in all the track traffic of Derby week.

5.00We had a great experience visiting the museum and learning about its history and how many people come to the races every year. The movie was fantastic. We enjoyed our time there. A must do if you’re traveling to Louisville!
