Your journey begins at the Theseus Statue in Thissio Square, beneath the gaze of the Acropolis. Here, you’ll learn about the story behind Athens’ name, and its deep connection to the olive tree. As you walk, you’ll encounter olive trees and discover the life cycle of the olive tree, from pruning and blossoming to harvesting. The experience then moves from ancient Greece to modern Athens as you stroll toward the Keramikos neighborhood, an area once known for its pottery workshops, now famous for its creative energy and street art. The walk concludes at Meigma Restaurant, where the olive oil tasting begins. Guided by a certified Olive Oil Sommelier, guests will: - Learn about the main stages of olive oil production - Master the official olive oil tasting technique - Understand the difference between extra virgin and virgin olive oil - Discover how to store olive oil properly at home - Taste three distinct extra virgin olive oils, each representing a different variety and region of Greece After the tasting you will enjoy a Greek lunch paired with the olive oils from the tasting, an exploration of how olive oil enhances flavor and transforms food into an expression of culture.

Thalia was very knowledgeable and did a great job of creating an experience that was informative, engaging, and delicious! It was a unique tour in a town with so many offerings and we'd absolutely recommend this trip to anyone visiting Athens.

Thalia was a wonderful olive oil sommelier. She was knowledgeable, engaging, and her English was very clear and easy to understand. This was one of our favorite adventures during our visit to Greece. The experience was a delightful way to taste traditional Greek foods while learning about the importance of the olive tree in Greek culture and history. We left with a whole new appreciation for olive oil — not only how it is produced, but also how to properly buy, taste, and use it in our own home-cooked meals. The class was both informative and enjoyable, and we would highly recommend it to anyone visiting Greece.

This was one of our favorite experiences in our 12 day tour of Greece! We learned so much about olive oil and the knowledge will be informing our culinary creations from now on! Thalia was absolutely delightful and so much fun! She offers a fabulous tour and olive tasting experience. History lovers exploring Ancient Greece should definitely incorporate this special and interesting aspect of Greek culture because olives and the olive industry have contributed significantly. Plus, this tour is DELICIOUS! It ends with an olive pairing experience at an incredible local restaurant. Don’t miss it!

Our olive oil experience with Thalia was one of the best afternoons we had during our stay in Athens. We loved it and learned so much! We had no idea how complex olive oil was. Like with wine, there are olive oil sommeliers and Thalia did a great job teaching us about the oils. She explained to us how to properly taste the oils and what to look for in different varieties of olive oils. We have travelled a lot and done more tours and courses than we can remember. This Olive Oil Tasting was one of the best we have ever done. We highly recommend it. Simply a must do. We will never look at a bottle of oil the same way again!

If I could give this review a 6/5 I would. Thalia is the first olive oil sommelier we have met, and the entire olive oil tasting we had with her was exceptional. She taught us so much about olive oil - from manufacturing, growth, harvesting, production, variety, storage! We began with four different olive oils from various regions of Greece. Thalia taught us the different evaluations of olive oil and ratings. Then they served us lunch, which included Greek snacks like Greek salad, cold cuts, and cheeses, and of course, some bread with Kalamata olives straight from Kalamata (made by Thalia’s best friend!! (wow!!)). We even had the chance to pick our favorite olive oil and pair it with the salad and bread. This is something truly special. Don’t miss out!!

Thalia is amazing! She gives all the ins and outs of olive oil! This tasting is educational, fun, and delicious! It is about an hour and a half and then you proceed to tasting the olive oils in more depth and practice pairings to suit your palette, with bites provided by the deli. All the staff at the deli were welcoming, friendly, and very hospitable…and the cellar where the tasting is held is beautiful!! Would highly recommend this tasting to anyone traveling to Athens!

Thalia was exceptional good at explaining all about olive oil. She is a warm and caring person that gives the best service. We had a wonderfull meal with local charcuterie and cheese at the end at it was more than enough - in fact we skipped the dinner.
