Travellers have an opportunity of seeing the second largest stone built monument in Zimbabwe. Its historical importance lies in its position at the watershed between the history of Great Zimbabwe and the later Zimbabwe period. It is one of the few Zimbabwe sites that were not destroyed by treasure hunters and its undisturbed stratigraphy is scientifically important in providing a much clearer insight into the history of the country.

Khami Ruins

This tour of archaeological interest. Travellers get to see the 16th century capital of the Torwa Dynasty, the 2nd largest stone built monument in Zimbabwe. It is composed of a complex series of platforms of dry-stone walled structures. The chief’s residence (Mambo) located on the Hill Ruin(Hill Complex), . The population lived in daga huts of cobwork, surrounded by a series of granite walls. These structures display a high standard of workmanship, the Vlei, Monolith and Passage platforms, and a great number of narrow passageways and perambulatory galleries and impressive chevron and chequered wall decorations.

I had a fantastic visit to Khami ruins thanks to the excellent guiding and driving of Valentine from Bonisa Tours. Valentine is so passionate about the history and culture of Zimbabwe that he made the rocks and stones come alive. The khami ruins itself is a fascinating glimpse into the past. I just wish I had more time in Bulawayo so Valentine could show me more sights in the surrounding area. Highly recommended

Enjoyed the Khame Ruins half day trip with guide Valentine. A passionate history buff, and very knowledgeable and cordial same rime. Hats off to Bonisha's guides's promptness. Left Zimbabwe for south africa with nice memories And appreciate the tour company for re adjusting my tour to another day, as my flight was canceled on original date. Lesley's tour of the Khami Ruins was fun. He explained how the Shona people or their close cultural ancestors built the first stone city called Mapungubwe in South Africa. This initial stone city led to five more including Great Zimbabwe and the Khami Ruins. The unique architecture gave me plenty of opportunities to take photos. Great experience!

The Khami ruins are some 30 minutes drive from central Bulawayo. Pick up was on time and the guide was wery informative. I had a full tour, covering all the buildings and structures for my YouTube channel. Being the second largest amcient ruims compex im Zimbabwe, this is a must-see if you are im Bulawayo! Highly recommemed tour that takes some 3 hours.

During a business conference, we had the opportunity to wind down by taking a trip to Khami Ruins. Bonisa Excursions provided us with a very comfy bus, and Lesley was a great tour guide, which made our trip more enjoyable. Great service from Bonisa Excursions!

Lesley provided hotel pick up and was an excellent guide, with a thorough knowledge of the history of the ruins. The Khami Ruins are a UNESCO World Heritage Site and are definitely worth visiting if you are interested in history. I recommend the trip and guide.

We had a really enjoyable afternoon at Khami ruins, it was great to be able to walk amongst the old stone walls. Our guide Valentine was knowledgeable about the ruins and the history of Zimbabwe. Good for nature lovers too, there are a pair of Fish Eagles in the area and we also saw a Brown Snake Eagle. Would recommend this trip.

The Khami Ruin is close to Bulawayo and it is worth visiting. The local on-site guide kindly explained the details about the ruin.

Leslie was our tour guide. He picked us up from where we were staying in Bulawayo and took us to the Khami Ruins site. Leslie is a great guy and is very knowledgeable about everything in particular Khami ruins history. We definitely recommend Leslie as your tour guide !! Thank you for a great day Leslie!
