You will meet the guide at the National Opera House to start the tour from a beautiful piece of architecture and home to many of Tchaïkovsky masterpieces. You will continue Volodymyrska street and see the very first entrance to Kiev - the Golden Gates. Next highlight is the Saint Sophia Cathedral listed as the UNESCO site. The cathedral may be visited optionally if you wish (tickets are to be purchased on spot ranging from 3 to 4 EUR). You continue the journey and visit the actual monastery of Saint Michael, an important place for Orthodox Christians. On the way you will discover some hidden murals that became an urban art movement since 2014 all over Kiev. You continue the trip to Andrew's descent, the cozy cobbled street with many souvenirs and a great ambience, see the Saint Andrew's Church on the top of the hill that is the symbol of the old city of Podil. I have booked a tour with Ukraine to travel for my parents, as it was their first time in Kiev and I wanted them to get the most of it during a short visit. We visited a snowy Kyiv for the first time this January and I was so blown away by how much I enjoyed my visit thanks to our Ukraine To Travel walking tour. My friends and I found the guide to be highly knowledgeable, reliable and friendly. She constantly went above and beyond to make our 3-hour tour the highlight of our time in Ukraine. She was full of interesting, unexpected, entertaining anecdotes and facts about the city and its people and at no point, as a group of young people, were we bored listening to endless historical details. What made this tour stand out was that she asked us if we had anything we would like to see in particular and she constantly changed the route according to our desires and what came up in conversation. At the end, we carried on chatting and we realised we hadn't even had time to pay attention to how cold it was outside and shared a mulled wine at a Christmas market we would never have found without such a dynamic guide! Highly recommended- this company makes a beautiful city come alive!
