Experience majestic blue pools, stunning, swirling moulins, deep crevasses and dramatic ice formations that continue to fascinate and attract the explorer in all of us when you step foot and trek around the surface of the Knik Glacier. The mighty Knik, one of the largest glaciers left in Southcentral Alaska, is 26 miles in length and 6 miles across at its toe and is just one of several glaciers in the ancient river valley.

In addition to spotting wildlife from the air (moose, dall sheep, spawning salmon, and bears), you’ll have an eagle’s eye view of towering waterfalls, glacial iceberg-filled lakes, and the untouched wilderness of the Alaska backcountry.

I booked this for my parents and I (my mom is 77 and dad 68) our pilot and guide Kristin was absolutely amazing. She held my mom’s hand most of the time and helped her through her nerves. She also guided me through doing the cold plunge!!! It was 10/10

It was an incredibly easy from start to finish. If you drive there yourself the roads seem like you are going to nowhere.. it’s private land not commercial so keep that in mind. The hostess was pleasant, informative & very concerned for safety. (Btw the release of reliability contract was written pretty funny). We boarded the helicopter, my short legs at 5’5” had a little trouble getting in the back seat, & began our journey. The pilot Christine was absolutely FABULOUS my wife & I were extremely happy with her friendliness, professionalism & just all around a great person to be with for this journey. I decided to at the last minute to do the ice plunge (be sure to tell them before you leave if you have a faint idea you may do it, they need to pack towels) that was awesome! Exhilarating & stimulating (I may go buy a cold plunge tub soon!).. take a water bottle to drink some glacier water! the flight back thru the canyon was just awesome. The scenery, the view, the experience was just awesome.. (& seriously don’t forget to tip pilot at least something)

We had the most amazing time with Outbound. We called Outbound for a pick up in Anchorage and they kindly offered us round-trip transport. Our trip was at noon and it was sunny and the Knik glacier was the most beautiful thing I’ve ever seen, way more than the Matnuska from my experience. Everybody should try this helicopter tour. We were surrounded by snow-capped mountains, the glaciers and glacier lakes. Transcendent experience. Thank you Carly, Christine and all the crew members!

WHAT AN EXPERIENCE! The views and the excitement of traveling by helicopter is hard to put into words. The staff at the "back yard" was terrific, and Christine is an awesome pilot! In addition to landing on the glacier, the trip back through the canyons allowed me to see a bear and some goats. No Alaskan trip is complete without this experience. Thanks to Skye and the rest of the staff for making this possible!

We had a great experience with Outbound! Dave the pilot did a great job briefing us on what to expect and his flying skills were excellent, he got us into some great spots for our wedding photos. Our photographer, Joe from Chugach peaks photography really knew his stuff as well. He set up some amazing pictures and knew all the best spots on the glaciers, he’s also quite the historian on the local area! 10/10 I would get married with them again (but hopefully I don’t have to).
