Captain Cook Snorkel Tour! Skip the crowded tourist boats with 30 to 80 people and join our small-group snorkel tour aboard a Navy-style Zodiac RIB speed boat. We’ll take you on a fast, scenic ride to Kealakekua Bay, home of the Captain Cook Monument and some of the clearest, most vibrant coral reef snorkeling on the Big Island. Explore sea caves, coves along the rugged Kona coastline—places larger boats can’t access. You may even spot dolphins, whales, or other marine wildlife along the way (wildlife sightings are NOT guaranteed). Your tour includes snorkel mask & snorkel, pineapple and water. Wetsuits and lifejackets are available for rent at check-in if desired. Our crew will guide you every step of the way, ensuring comfort, safety, and a memorable experience. ⏱️ Tour duration is approximately 2–3 hours (2.5 hours on average), but can vary depending on ocean conditions, snorkeling time, and wildlife activity. Come explore the Big Island coast with us—the local way, without the crowds.

The captain Rory and beautiful first mate were outstanding and fun! Would do this again in a heartbeat! Snorkel fun and caves lm a fast zodiac.

Incredible snorkeling with great tour guides. Saw an abundance of Hawaii wildlife and learned a lot about the island. Saw dolphins, humpback whales, birds, and many different types of fish.

Kona Captain Cook snorkel tour was awesome. I enjoyed the small group, quick trip on the RIB boat. We went pretty fast and was exhilarating to be so close to the water. The experience felt much more personal. The snorkeling was amazing.. so many fish to see, urchins, coral… it was beautiful. Jack & Ethan were great.. well worth going.

Our snorkeling and sea cave excursion to Captain Cook was absolutely phenomenal! Captain Rory and Kahalayla were the perfect hosts — knowledgeable, fun, and clearly passionate about both the ocean and Hawaiian culture. The ride out to the reef was a blast — speeding across those gorgeous blue waters with the wind in our hair set the tone for an unforgettable adventure. The snorkeling at the reef was incredible. Crystal clear water, vibrant marine life, and such a peaceful, immersive experience. On the way back, the tour became even more special. We loved learning about historic Hawaiian traditions and the cultural stories shared along the coastline. It added so much depth and meaning to the trip. And just when we thought it couldn’t get more exciting, Captain Rory expertly navigated us into a sea cave! Seeing the lava tubes up close from the water was thrilling and breathtaking. This tour was the perfect mix of adventure, natural beauty, culture, and fun. We had an absolute blast and would recommend this experience to anyone visiting the Big Island. We had a great time! Very informative and relaxing experience. As first time snorkelers we felt calm and safe with our guides. We also saw a lot of beautiful sea life and coastal views. We highly recommend and would do again.

The snorkeling was excellent but there were no dolphins or whales. If you want to see lots of varieties of fish in a calm, coral bottomed cove...this is for you. But that's pretty much all that it was.

Really fabulous trip. Note: Captain Cook Marina is THE place to snorkel so be sure to prioritize. Hawaii Island and Ocean Tours took great care, provided wonderful safe and informative tour, and even celebrated adventure with fresh pinapple. Special thanks to Jake and Captain Shaka!
