Explore the breathtaking Korouoma Canyon and its majestic frozen waterfalls with this all-day guided excursion. Your guide will take you through the forests to the best spots where you can admire the spectacular ice formations.
In all our activities, our groups are limited to 8 people maximum. It is very important for us to provide you with the best experience possible, and avoid mass tourism. This way, your guide will know you better and will be able to address all your needs and answer your questions. Please note, however it is a public national park with other visitors. As we usually say - the smaller the group, the bigger the experience!

Korouoma is a 30-kilometres long and up to 130 meters deep canyon fracture valley located 110 kilometres south-east of Rovaniemi. It offers breathtaking scenery all year round, with its cliffs, rapids and waterfalls. This natural reserve is also home to rare species, and a great nature area for hikers. In the wintertime, the waterfalls turn into fantastic ice formations which are well-known for ice-climbing and a great attraction for tourists coming from all around the world. Your guide will come to pick you up from your accommodation in Rovaniemi and will drive you to Korouoma Canyon, where you start your hike to the waterfalls. You will have the chance to observe some of the most spectacular frozen waterfalls in Europe and enjoy the beauty of snowy nature. A typical Finnish campfire snack will also be served around the open fire to keep you warm. This is a great opportunity for your guide to show you his fire-making skills! Snow spikes for the boots are optional but may be useful if you need more confidence when hiking down the canyon to the waterfall. The tour lasts around 7 hours (with approximately 5 kilometers of walking) and you will be back in Rovaniemi around 16.00.

5.00One of the highlights of our visit to Rovaniemi. We went with a guide who is also a professional photographer, so we got nice family shots with the waterfalls. If all members of your group are fit enough, the longer trail is recommended, but you would need spikes and walk carefully on the slippery portions. Highly recommended.

5.00Hiking through Karouma Canyon was an absolutely magical experience. The entire landscape was covered in snow, and the frozen waterfalls were truly breathtaking. Our guide was incredibly friendly and knowledgeable, which really enhanced the experience and made the hike even more enjoyable. Choosing the early time slot meant we had the park almost entirely to ourselves, allowing us to fully appreciate the silence, solitude, and natural beauty of the canyon. It was a fantastic experience and one we would highly recommend to anyone visiting the area.

5.00Even at minus 25 celcius, our guide Gabor kept the beautiful walk safe and full of facts. On the way back to the meeting point he even made a detour so we could see some Northern Lights! Great!

4.00It’s a bit of a drive but well worth it when you get there - stunning scenery along the trek. The pace wasn’t too fast and we are over 60 and were able to do the 5km ok. Bit of a climb out at the end, about 500 metres.

5.00Great wilderness hike with beautiful photo opportunities. Our guide Oscar was very friendly and patient with requests. The walk has a few steep spots with rope railings to help and as other reviews point out the last 30 minutes is a bit more uphill. We are somewhat fit and found it manageable- most of the group didn’t seemed too challenged. If you like walks outside and seeing Finland’s forest and nature scenery this is a great day out.

1.00Booked 6 weeks in advance then my outing was rescheduled. No big deal as I am fully aware things happen. However they tell me to arrive the following day, later in the afternoon. I thought that might be better so I rearranged my schedule accordingly. So I wake up to missed calls because my new trip was still leaving at 9 am not 2 pm like they said. Now I never give bad reviews unless they are well earned and this was. Just to sum up. Booked 6 weeks in advance, traveled 5K miles just to have the ball completely dropped by this outfit. I can't in good conscience give them any kind of positive review. It will be my first and last time using them to book what may have been a once in a lifetime experience. 0/5 all the way. Would not recommend. Find another outfit.
