Your safari will take you through the swamplands and jungles of Kumana National Park. It will definitely allow you to see a large variety of birdlife. From hundreds of migratory bird species that nest here during the winter season, to the many native birds that live throughout the year; the large variety will leave your birdwatching instincts drooling. In addition there are also many other wildlife to see in the park.You will be travelling in a rough terrain (4WD) game vehicle. About the Park: Kumana National Park lies on the South Eastern coast of Sri Lanka. In 1938, the area - which was then part of the Eastern part of Yala Wildlife Reserve - was recognized as one of Sri Lanka’s most important bird nesting and breeding grounds, and was declared as Kumana Sanctuary. Later in 2006, the sanctuary became separated from Yala National Park and was named ‘Kumana National Park’.

Kumana NP is one of the most beautiful parks in the world, especially when the many lakes within are filled with water. You will then see countless birds, from the ibis to 5 diverse stork species, but also many Crocs, occasionally an elephant, wild boar and Axish - and, yes, leopards. Their density is said to be highest here in the world, not in Yala, for example. Kumana is never as crowded as neighbouring Yala, probably because most of Arugam are just for surfing or bathing...the drive here alone takes around an hour, but is scenically really super nice. Of course, good luck is always part of an animal observation, of course, sighting a leopard is never guaranteed. Beautiful places to get out and legs represented on the Kumbuk-lined shore of an inlet in the park

They came to pick us up at the hotel at the right time. During the journey to the park, the driver has already indicated animals. During the safari, the driver showed us fauna and different areas with different vegetation. We saw quite a lot of local fauna... and even one of us spotted a leopard. All very well. Recommended experience for fauna and landscape. We'd be back.
