Soljans Estate Winery

Soljan’s Winery This is a family operated vineyard started by Tony Soljan. There is a long history associated with the Soljans in West Auckland and their original vineyard was in the suburb of Henderson which is coincidently also in West Auckland. In the Kumeu vineyard we grow Pinot Gris, Chardonnay and Pinotage, all varieties which excel in the Kumeu region. The wine makers and staff endeavour to make the best possible wines for you to enjoy so they get their grapes from where they grow best. Soljans employs modern wine making technology, but they never compromise on quality, so they still retain some traditional methods. In addition to the French Oak Barrique Barrels they have for ageing wine, they still have and use the hand-made, 65-year-old, 2,250 litre, magnificent totara barrels for aging their exquisite Founders Tawny Port. At Soljans Estate Winery, they produce a wide range of still and sparkling wines, and have been doing so for over 80 years.

The wine experience presents a wide variety of wines along with, of course, information on their crafting. But the highlight is standing next to gannets at their nesting grounds. Even when the birds are not there the scenery is breathtaking. Our guide Jose was perfect: personable, easy going and filled with stories of the area. The trip was a pure delight.

We tasted some excellent wines at the featured wineries, including Soljans’ Kumeu Pinot Gris, Kumeu River Chardonnay, and Westbrook Riesling. The view from the location of the gannet colony is spectacular. It was a rainy day and a wine tour was the perfect activity!

Fun & easy excursion out of Auckland to see countryside, beautiful vineyards and wine tasting, and Mautaki Bay. Our guide Jose was interesting & lots of explanations about the wine region and NZ in general.

We visited a few vineyards and tasted some very wine as well as a lovely pizza lunch. Janene our driver and guide was very knowledgeable and helpful. Was a good day.

Jose was an amazing tour guide. All the wineries were fantastic and the pizza lunch was delicious. We enjoyed stopping at Muriwai Beach for a beautiful view. We highly recommend this tour to others!!

Jennine our tour guide was absolutely amazing she went above and beyond. She stop so that I could get something to eat that was gluten free for breakfast. The wine tasting at all three venues was very informative and the wines were really good. Our lunch spot was really great as they offered us gluten free pizza. Over all would highly

Peter was awesome! It was a holiday in Auckland so some of the wineries on the tour were closed BUT Peter scheduled other tours for us which were amazing!!! Highly recommend.
