We have been doing food walks across Europe over the last few years. They are a great way for foodies to soak up food (of course) but also a little local history and culture. This was one of the best. We don’t usually post pictures, but do see those appended here. The tour guide who asked to be called “Leesa,” was a licensed tour guide who studied tourism at the local university. While many food tours prominently feature the term “food,” this one was truly food forward. We were very grateful to have walking breaks from eating as the day went on. We started with Turkish bagels and cheeses. After some walking in the old city, we had Turkish coffee. Next was a visit to an ancient mosque. Next we tried a local delicacy often made with meat, but this time with wheat mixed with spices and olive oil. The vegetarian dish, served in lettuce leaves and drizzled with pomegranate syrup, is called çağ köfte. It was quite spicy, but fun to try something completely new to us. Somewhere along the way, we acquired some small local pastry treats (baklava of course) for a dessert to be had later. After more needed walking, we went to a dumpling shop where we watched the proprietor make tiny pork dumplings by hand. These were quickly boiled and topped with a tasty yogurt and sumac sauce. Looking back, this amazingly fresh dish might have been the best of the walk. Afterwards, we walked along the waterfront and then to a historicTurkish bath house. The inner rooms might possibly be the hottest places we have ever entered. Nearby was a huge Turkish china store with an artisan painting away. Beautiful inventory with many stories from the multi-generation owner. By now, we were wondering about gyros, and we were led to a local spot known for them. We asked the shop owner to give us each half as the calories were mounting up. It was wonderful in moderation. Four hours into the the walk, it was time for the final meal. This was held at a nice waterfront restaurant where seafood dishes were primary (calamari, shrimp, fish), but also some zucchini fritters and carrots with yogurt. Finally, we sampled the varieties of baklava that we had picked up earlier. This one richly deserves to mention “food” in the title.

We spent a delightful morning with our friendly and knowledgeable guide Aybike. Learned so much about Turkish life and had lots of delicious food. Wonderful tips provided about Kusadasi too. Whether on a cruise stop over or visiting on your own, make sure to include a Kuşadası Food and Walking tour, you will always remember it

This is a comprehensive and enjoyable food walking tour. Not only did we get to see the local area of Kusadasi; but we experienced a wide array of local food and entertaining/knowledgeable guides. We had a great time and would suggest this tour to anyone.

Our family was looking for a refreshing visit in the town of Kusadasi and Palot Korkmoz certainly gave us an incredible tour. A perfect sample of the local food mixed with some history of the town. We were comfortably walking into the neighborhood areas and even caught a local weekly market (Thursdays only). This is where we sampled local produce, pancake made in front of us and the most incredible fresh baked baklava! They were very good at accommodating allergies which is wonderful. Incredible English with the in of a local made a gem of a visit to this incredible country!

This was an amazing experience and probably our best food tour ever (and we've taken a lot of food tours). Liza did a fantastic job of providing history and culture while also taking us to so many great places to eat where most of the time we were the only tourists (loved it). The food was excellent at every stop and we tried so many delicious traditional Turkish food and drinks. Liza was a great guide! Highly, highly recommend - and come hungry!

We had a delightful time with Liza today. Our small group consisted of two couples. We ate our way through the port and old town areas of Kusadasi. Skip breakfast—you won’t need it. Each place we stopped was better than the last. The food was so plentiful dinner will not be necessary. We highly recommend this tour!!
