Our Geisha District Walking Tour with Yuki was one of the absolute highlights of our trip to Kyoto. Yuki was not only knowledgeable but deeply respectful of the culture and traditions he shared with us. You could feel his passion in every word — his love for Kyoto, its history, and the world of the geisha was truly infectious. He guided us through the narrow streets of Gion and Pontocho with care and insight, weaving stories that made the history come alive. Every stop felt intentional — from the quiet corners and hidden teahouses to the places where we caught real glimpses of maiko on their way to evening appointments. What stood out most was how genuinely proud Yuki was of his city. His enthusiasm made us fall in love with Kyoto even more. If you want to understand the beauty and depth of Kyoto’s traditions, this is the guide and the tour to take. Highly, highly recommended!

Excellent tour with lots of history about the Geiko/Maiko culture. Our guide (I think her name was Nani) was lovely, very knowledgeable and was earnest in her desire to share the Geiko story with the group.

Deborah was our guide, and she was wonderful. She is very passionate about the geisha world, and communicates with such a joyful spirit. In just a little over 2 hours we learned so much about geisha (geiko), their history and current day situation. We even saw a geisha in training walking past us! It was magical to do this tour through old town Kyoto at night. We highly recommend this tour with Deborah!
