This popular kayak tour will allow you to kayak the La Jolla sea caves and ecological reserve, which boasts an amazing array of scenery and wildlife you can't find anywhere else in San Diego. As you paddle alongside your expert naturalist/biologist guide, keep an eye out for sea lions, dolphins and even a Grey Whale!
Minimum age is 6 years old and they will have to ride in the tandem with an adult over the age of 18.
THIS TOUR WILL BE FOR 2 TRAVELERS IN THE SAME TANDEM KAYAK. SO 1 TRAVELER EQUALS 1 TANDEM KAYAK OR 2 GUESTS. DO NOT BOOK THIS OPTION IF YOU ARE ONLY 1 GUEST. BOOK THE SINGLE KAYAK OPTION IF YOU ARE ONE GUEST

PLEASE BE IN THE KAYAK SHOP 1 HOUR BEFORE TOUR START TIME, Allow time for parking and gear set up
Expect to get wet, please wear appropriate clothes such as a bathing suit and shoes that can get wet (tennis shoes, 'river shoes' or flip flops)
Hats, sun screen and towels are strongly advised
Please do not bring valuables and things that cannot get wet
There is a weight limit of 250 pounds per single kayak and 450 pounds per double kayak
For safety reasons, the tour operator does not guarantee going into the caves on tours. Entrance to caves is based on ocean conditions, safety, and participants ability as determined by guide.
Minimum age is 6 years for a double kayak and 16 years for a single kayak
All participants must be able to swim

No experience is needed! Your knowledgable guide will help you learn the basics and tour you around one of the premier eco-tourist destinations in San Diego. After a brief paddle instruction and safety talk, you'll take your kayak down to the beach in La Jolla Shores and paddle to the La Jolla Sea Caves taking in the gorgeous views and watching for the abundant wildlife. You'll also go through the incredible rock formations and caves (if conditions permit), through the expansive kelp forests and wildlfie hot spots and cap it all off with a kayak surf ride back to the beach. You can see numerous types of sea birds and usually sea lions, seals and sometimes dolphins or even orcas! What to Expect: Be prepared to get wet! 5.00Wha a fun spontaneous activity I booked. We planned on just doing nothing but sitting on the beach, when I just happened to see a ad for this! Chase and Sophia were very nice and explained everything we needed to know. The ocean can be intimidating but this was by far a great trip! Oh we seen some leopard sharks…. A lot! Recommend this to anyone visiting San Diego !

5.00Booked thru Viator. A little confusion as to what company the tour was actually booked thru. Went to the address listed in the email and that business was closed down. Appears to have merged with another local tour company, La Jolla Kayak. Besides that…everything was great. Check in was easy. Staff was super friendly. Guides were knowledgeable. Family all agreed the tour was a highlight of our trip. 5 stars would highly recommend!

5.00Bestie and I did the kayak tour today, and it was awesome. Very professionally run, on time, very safe. Brody and Ethan were our tour guides and they were knowledgeable and super fun. We saw tiger sharks, dolphins, sea lions, pelicans, and went through multiple caves. We’ll be back!

4.00Ana and Nick were great tour guides. We saw a variety of marine life and birds. There were many different tours at the beginning of the cave and some confusion, so we had to wait a very long time for the tour to continue. Overall, I would recommend the tour and the price was good for a 2 hour tour.
Highly recommended - don’t skip this tour!

5.00So glad we opted for a little adventure by taking the La Jolla Caves Kayak Tour. Worth every penny. We actually got two tandem kayaks- one for my husband and me, and another for for our teenager and his buddy. This was the perfect way to spend a sunny day. Even the teenage boys were happy and entertained the whole time. Abby, Dane, and Brody expertly guided us along the coast and over to the caves, pointing out marine life and teaching us some fun historical facts about La Jolla. They also carefully escorted us into the caves (optional and 2 kayaks at a time). I was especially glad for their skill here because the waves were strong enough that it would not have been appropriate for a novice to attempt it alone. We felt very safe the entire time. I’m so glad for this experience. It was everyone’s favorite part of our trip. Thank you Abby, Dane, and Brody.

5.00Our guides were amazing with my kids (7 and 9) as well as my 70 year old mom. I can not speak highly enough about their ability to make everyone feel safe and have fun. And the water and caves were amazing!!

5.00We had such a great time on this tour. Everyone we encountered was so kind and helpful, everything was well organized and easy. The kayaking was easy, calm waters, we saw tons of leopard sharks us and Garibaldi swimming underneath us. The guides were funny and knowledgeable and it was just a perfect activity to start a day in La Jolla.
