San Juan la Laguna, a unique town with cooperatives of natural dyes, painting's art and medicinal plants.

IMPORTANT: If do the weather conditions there is no access to any of the towns listed in the tour, we will suggest you other town options to visit and keep the three towns in your tour
Return time to Antigua around 18:30-19:00hrs. All will depend on traffic and the group.
If you want to enjoy more time the lake and want to spend a night there, we can gladly coordinate the transportation back to Antigua next day without extra cost. PLEASE let us know when you book that you need to return next day. You can choose the shared transportation leaving from Panajachel at 12:00pm or 16hrs. - ACCOMMODATION IS ON YOUR OWN. -
The duration of the tour is approximately 14hrs, this tour is ideal if you don't have much time to visit the country.

Here is where the tour starts. At your arrival you will have around 45mins to have breakfast (Not included). After that, you walk to the dock to take the boat. Panajachel, also known as "Pana", is a charming city located on the shore of Lake Atitlan. Is the most important center of the area, reason why it concentrates the majority of hotels, restaurants, nightlife, entertainment centers and shops. Ideal for shopping for handicrafts and contributing to local tourism.
San Juan la Laguna
First town to visit. San Juan la Laguna, a quaint town onf the west shore of the lake, there are serveral cooperatives: from beekeepers, coffee growers to backstrap loom weavers, who work using natural dyes. Using ancestral techniques, they extract dyes from tree bark, vegetables, coconut shells and so on to paint of colors their products.

3.00Driver Frank was great. Local tour guides and people on lake towns not so much. It was ok with San Juan being nice for pictures. You inly send 30 mnts in San Pedro but really not much to see there anyway. In Santiago the best way to see the most is by paying extra to take a tuctuc. The best thing was the art gallery where we were able to see beautiful and different paintings depicting Guatemalan culture and daily activities. Food and service were not good and people were not very nice or customer service oriented. If you don't have much time and want to see the lake, this is a good option.

5.00It was a beautiful day and everything was so peaceful and well planned out. It was an easy transition from the moment they pick you up at the hotel to the lake, and vice-versa. Make sure you bring Q500 cash and sunscreen!
Great way to fill a day and see the Highlands - as long as you don’t mind bringing tourist fodder!

4.00Getting to the lake is a two hour ride, through many busy rural towns and great landscapes. Good breakfast options are made available before boarding a covered and somewhat cramped fast boat twenty minutes across this massive (127 sq km) surrounded by volcanoes. The three towns are highly tourist oriented so expect to be politely harassed. There are beautiful crafts and bargains to be had - but not in the places you are taken to although the demonstrations of Mayan bee-keeping and uses of honey was well presented and fascinating. Likewise in the textiles studio showing how the cotton plant is turned into the many beautifully coloured items. There are three destinations visited with your private boat, the final one being a large town with an option for a one hour yuk-tuk tour for Q50, which is worth it. The very good quality lunch options happens after the tour and just before crossing back over the lake for the long drive back to Antigua. It makes for a 13 hour day after a very early 5.30am pick up.

4.00Local guide Elena was great. The places we visited were nice, a bit focused on shopping but I don’t mind that, I appreciate the hustle of local artisans. Places where we had breakfast and lunch were ok; even though we ordered lunch in advance to avoid waiting, we still had to wait 20 minutes to be served. Now, the driving was awful. The driver was driving reckless, above the speed limit and using his phone. I was very anxious all the time. I would recommend as long as the driver gets his license revoked.

5.00My girlfriend and I had a great time navigating on lake Atitlan. We got to see the beautiful and colorful towns of San Juan, San Pedro, and Santiago. Tourist guides were very friendly and informative. We recommend anyone visiting Guatemala to take this tour.

5.00Must-see place! The tour operators allowed us to spend most of the time in the last village, Santiago Atitlán, where we stayed for about 2 hours. However, in San Juan La Laguna and San Pedro La Laguna, we only had around 25–30 minutes in each village. In my opinion, the first two villages were the most beautiful, with amazing artistic wall paintings. We didn’t have enough time to fully explore San Juan and San Pedro La Laguna. I would definitely recommend allocating more time to these two villages.

5.00Lake Atitlan was gorgeous. The photos don't do it justice. There was good food and plenty of shopping. Be ready for uphill walking. It was a long day, but so worth it if you are short on time and want to see highlights of Guatemala.
